Rubbing is at the middle of the steering shaft, not related to the bolt like your issue.

They said they will call me when they get more sets let’s see if they follow through

Update:

Spoke to a guy name russel at Texas speed, the previous commitment they made to me to exchange these headers, they did not follow through with. I was told all their 2” headers needs custom fitting and there is a disclaimer on their website to notate this. I was told by the previous guy I taked to that there’s was an older batch that did have issues. Now calling back they would not honor any of what’s was promised before and said my order was too old, and the headers were not used... I have less than 50 miles on this car in the last 6 month.

Very dissapointed in this companies customer service and their policies and commitment to their customers. Was going to pickup a short block from their next year, but will not be going that route.

Would recommend going with a different option if you want 2” headers

Attached is a photo from their site where there is no disclaimers or all 2” headers need modifications to fit, even when I pointed this out to them he said “well we tell everyone that” that was not the case at time I’d purchase.

Go roadkill on it n smash tube to clear steering shaft. Wonder if you could unlink steering, markt it before so you align is correctly and then.. black of wood, mallet.. hulk smash, reinstall.

Sucks that is a thing in age of computer models and tolerances to 64th inch.. just forgot to account for engine rotation on acceleration. Shim up motor mount instead? Either way.. solution is a hack.

how hard/dangerous is it to shim a motor mount? My tsp are sticking down about 3/4" and occasionally I'll catch a nasty speed bump and knock my flange clamp loose...

Right? This has been part of installing headers up until the last 10-15 years even with premium brands. They aren’t even coated...dent them where they hit. They cost 33-50% of the premium header...not bad imo

Yeah I thought it would have been common knowledge by now with aftermarket headers. I am putting on a set of TSPs on my car next week and if I have that problem I'll take a hammer and pop it a couple of times and move on with the install.

Vsoles, take a short sledge and a piece of 2x 2. carefully marking the header tube with magic marker take the end of the 2 x 2 where you need the clearance and carefully begin to make a dent and create clearance. You need about 1/2-3/4 " . Go SLOW, carefully.

Dont worry it wont affect performance

What is risk of shimming motormount ? oil level reads off by 1/16" ? I've done worse.. putting turbo on engine that didn't have one to start with. Changing engine location to make turbo fit. Just cuz it left factory one way, does not mean you can't changei t, as illustrated by OP, adding big af headers.

I would loosen all header bolts and see if there is any play.. even 1/64" gained at header port can translate into big changes at discharge end.

I don’t mind denting the headers, I do mind a company that do not fulfill commitments.

There are plenty of 2” headers that clear fine, I wanted to post this experience for others that might be in the market for headers and consider this part of the decision making process.

Frankly if you are going for cheap, I don’t know why you wouldn’t go with those speed engineering ones.
