Blurry HUD After Car Detailing

Hey guys, I picked up my car from getting fully detailed went to the track last night and when I turned on the heads up display it was blurry as hell. Seems like the guy that detailed my car sprayed the HUD with some sort of dashboard conditioner and the image looks terrible. Does anyone know what to use to clear it up? Thanks!

Take it back to the detailer and tell them to resolve the issue and to next time be a bit more careful. You paid them to detail your car, I'd make them resolve the issue. (Just Me)

From my owner's manual...Good luck.

Care of the HUD
Clean the inside of the windshield
as needed to remove any dirt or film
that could reduce the sharpness or
clarity of the HUD image.
To clean the HUD lens, use a soft,
clean cloth that has household glass
cleaner sprayed on it. Wipe the
HUD lens gently, then dry it. Do not
spray cleaner directly on the lens
because the cleaner could leak into
the unit

As others have said, go back, explain the situation and I'm sure they can fix it. More that likely some product got on the HUD screen and smeared it.

I would just clean it myself, you're going to drive your car back to the detailer and waste your time so they can wipe the screen clean for you? If it didn't damage anything then there is nothing to worry about.

Yep, it's a matter of principle to me, and not only that, if you F something up (for whatever reason) fixing something the detailer messed up, it's on you. If you take it back to them and they F something up, it's on them. Again... Just me... Besides... It's just another excuse to take a drive in the Carmaro. Any drive in the Camaro is not a waste of my time, even if it's back to the detailers.

I like your way of thinking

Thanks for the information, I’m going to try using glass cleaner, hopefully it cuts through the oily stuff on the lens. I bought lens cleaning wipes too, we’ll see if it works. If unsuccessful I’ll take the car back to the detailer and ask them to fix it, I don’t mind the drive.

I agree. I drive with the HUD on all the time, it was turned off when I picked the car up. I guess it was turned off for a reason…

Chances are they have interior detail product on the plastic cover on the HUD. Use a glass cleaner (without ammonia) dampen a waffle weave and clean the HUD cover on the dash. I clean mine every time I do an interior clean.

Good point. HUD should be properly cleaned regularly anyhow. You don't need to wait until it gets messed up by a detailer's product.

This would make me find another detailer...if they turned it off, they had to have gone looking for the settings to do it as it's not just an on/off switch. That means they were either covering up what they knew was a screw up, or they were snooping through your menus for some other reason. Even if it's out of boredom, there's no good reason for that.
