Speed limited by GM?

Just read in another thread that suddenly disappeared that the speed on the vert's was limited to 125 MPH. One person offered that the max speed could be changed or turned off but didn't say how. Anyone have any insight on this???

No idea on the 6th gens, but the 5th gen convertibles were in fact speed capped at 155mph due to the convertible top.

A friend of mine has a 2016 SS convertible and said he got up to 160 before he had to back it down. He was running with a BMW M3 and I don’t know what model it was.

In the past the speed was limited by the speed rating of the tires delivered from the factory. The speed limit can be adjusted with a tune but that may void your powertrain warranty.

S: 112 mph
T: 118 mph
U: 124 mph
H: 130 mph
V: 149 mph
W: 168 mph
Y: 186 mph

Don't ever plan on those kind of speeds, my 150 MPH days are over. But.....if I ever have to run from the aliens or something I want to know my car won't be restricted buy some speed governing devise.

I read somewhere that the SS coupe is electronically limited to 165 and the SS vert to either 150 or 155. Can't put my hands on where exactly I read that. I recall it was around the time I bought my car (Jan 2017). When I find it, I'll link it.

That would not be correct. Per the 2017 Camaro Sales brochure the SS vert is speed limited to 155 MPH

The SS coupe list a top speed of 180 MPH

I wonder what the max speed is for a ZL1 convertible since they are supercharged and the coupe too?

Yes, I'm sure that is correct. I edited my post with link to the 155 in the C/D review of the 2016 SS Vert. 155.
