Having traveled in Mexico a fair amount over the years, they’ve come a ways in speed enforcement and I would dare say that although one wouldn’t be happy being caught running those speeds in the USA, you’d probably fare better then if you were actually doing that speed and caught in Mexico.

Your car might be given to a drug lord and you’d have a bad man for a boyfriend for many years. You’d be senorita gringo.
Por favor, no. Gracias!

I think A10s have a verified 2-way average of 198. I thought I read, too, that that was 100% factory stock, but with optimized alignment (less drag) and higher tire pressures (OEM tires - just max' pressure) that it went up to 202. It was something like that.

It shouldn't take much to get em past 200. Finding the roads to do it on is always a challenge. Yours truly got popped on the street doing 100 and got hit with 2 years of supervision, 100 hours of community service and driving school. If I don't meet those terms they are seeking jail time......shoulda went to Mexico.

the theoretical limit of the transmission (stock redline limited) is 279 in 10th for the auto.

but if you swapped the rear end with the manual, it drops the tops speed to 213, which I think would help a bit on the aero limited top speed.

Been there, done that - had my license revoked for one year, too (this was about 8 years ago)

100 is some kind of evil sin with these people, but people pass me going 90-100 every day, all the time. Plus in a ZL1 going 100 it's like you're barely breaking 2500 rpm

That's harsh. Here is police video of a NM State Trooper pulling over a car doing 132 in southern New Mexico, and the cop was totally chill.

I think it all depends on where you're at. for example, here there's an unspoken "78, you're fine, 79, you're mine" rule for the freeway. if you drive under 75, you are the one holding up traffic. But in the same city, if you are caught doing 40 in a 35, ticket, no questions asked or answered.

Radar detectors pay for themselves in no time.

Yep - and the new line from Escort, V2 etc are pretty darn good. Picked up a cop a good 1/2+ mile out a few weeks back on the Escort 360C

All the talk of 800+ hp Hellcats etc makes me laugh because there are exceedingly few places you can use that power on the street

Amen, a quality radar detector. That being said, they can't save you from laser though, thankfully laser is not common at all. Laser jammers work, but a little pricey for something you rarely ever see.

Nonsense, you really hate Hellcat's don't you? I've seen a common theme in your posts about them. A 650hp car will get you in trouble just as much as a 800+hp car.

This is true, ZX-10R the Hellcat is still a great car as well as the ZL1. You can get in trouble with any vehicle that’s fast if you’re not responsible.

All cars offer a different experience. A Hellcat isn't made for a road course, its made for a drag strip or a good cruising car. They aren't nearly the boats that people make them out to be, they handle very well for their size but they aren't sports cars and were never marketed as such. They make crazy power though rather cheap compared to a ZL1 and have their own driving experience which many people love, myself included. The Mustang is a proper sports car these days just like the Camaro, for the high end the GT350 and GT500 are world class just like a ZL1.
