Dealer Installing Borla Exhaust

I finally yielded to the voices in my head, telling me to get the Borla S cat back exhaust I have been wanting for the past few months. Surprisingly, my dealer agreed to do the install, so I am having it shipped directly to them for install tomorrow or Friday.

I think this might be somewhat unusual for a dealer to do this, but I don't know. Anyone else had a dealer install aftermarket parts for them?

I know the one I use has no problem installing aftermarket parts. But I suspect most dont!

Never inquired but I know some dealers will install exhaust. But I just prefer going to a well reviewed exhaust/muffler shop.

I'm trying to keep my warranty intact, so having the dealer install it takes some of the doubt away, at least for me. My thinking is that if the dealer installed it, and told me the warranty was still good, which they did, I'm in a better position if something goes wrong with the engine, etc.

I prefer to do it myself and save the coin for something else. But is what I do with everything just about. Most dealers charge top dollar for anything. Installing the catback is pretty straightforward if you have the availability of a lift.

Smart dealers find ways to make money in down markets.

Kudos to your dealer, Mark!

No lift and no garage space.

As this mod does nothing for HP and doesn't change the tune, The Magnusson-moss Warranty Act would prevent this from voiding your warranty

I get it, but we all know catch cans don't cause engine problems, yet there are cases on this forum where warranties have been denied because of them. My servicing dealer has been very good to me, even though I did not buy the car from them.

a catch can is a different animal. We all know that it wouldn't be an issue but GM decided that it was tied into the engine's oiling system/vacuum. You are free & clear with an axle back exhaust.

I'm an older fellow (as in my days of wrenching are over - hahaha): - So I'm waiting for my 2020 ZL1 1le to show at the dealer and I noticed that I forgot to order the F800 dash cam and now it's to late to include in the order. So I can find that dash cam anywhere (actually there is a newer version) so I call the dealer and ask "I will pay you guys to install the dash cam - how much" - This was the response: "We will not install anything that is considered an aftermarket part on your vehicle" - So I informed him that this is actually a part that can be ordered during a build out from Chevrolet his response "We will install the equipment with that specific PN and not the upgraded version"

Never in my life have I heard such ridiculous nonsense, in all my years of car ownership and buying... I have had dealers refuse to install what they consider performance parts - but never bolt on's that have zero consequence to the mechanicals of the vehicle - what the hell happened here ...?
Really? Dashcam? I didn't see that as an option when I order my ZLE. Huh!

Well Zorro, if it’s a Chevrolet Performance( formally GMPP) part then I see no reason why you can’t get it installed on the car when they get it in to the dealership!

I absolutely love this exhaust! I got the carbon tips. The sound is excellent, it looks fantastic, and i really like that is has the exhaust valves. I'm totally happy.

In celebration, I went to Mexico yesterday, and hit 175. The car still had more.
