Electrical Gremlins

My 2018 ZL 1 A10 has started some electrical shenanigans on me. When i start it, it chimes, then chimes 3 minutes later, then chimes again. It never gives any indication of whats wrong.

The A/C fan switch does not work, sometimes turning off the fan completely. Also, when i try to set the color to match the driving mode, it wont make the change, instead, reverting to the last settings that i programmed.

Im getting i little upset with this. Maybe the battery needs to be unplugged for a few minutes to let the system reset itself.

Anyone have some insight into this? Im taking it to the dealer, for sure.

Thanks.

You ain't lying. I haven't had those issues, but I've had rear axle warning come on out of nowhere. Service traction control and ABS. Just out of nowhere. Now, all seems fine. I think these cars are possessed.

I know some plug on the back of the AC panel area comes unplug and will be a bulletin soon from talking to a guy Robert or Zeus zl1 happened to his car. Also there is one bulletin for the harness that comes unplug at the ECM that they did on mine 2 weeks ago I had no problems but did the buletin anyhow. maybe it one of these little fixes.. The only problem I had was interior lighting the factory nicked my light wires with a glove box screw or dash screw..

You get all sorts of goofy things happening when the battery is low. Put a voltmeter on the battery with engine off, not what is read upfront, and see if you have more than 12.2. Anything less than 12 can set off phantom alarms and goofy electrical crap…

I've been having some as well. Cluster will go nuts for a minute and CEL codes will pop up saying there were errors communicating with transmission, then transmission goes into limp mode. Turn it off and on again and all is well. I'll have to go plug by plug to ensure all are seated and do not have water in them (I've washed the engine before).

I hope they look at that. The car was built in May. Should not have a bad battery.

Thanks for that info. I'll take that to the dealer.

UPDATE: So my electrical gremlins are being caused by my aeroforce gauge. I unplugged it and problem solved.

I'm going to hit "factory re-set" on the center info thing, and see if that restores the LED functionality. If not, they can just put a new one in. If its the A/C switch, it can probably be pulled out in few minutes and and replaced.

I'm really not going to stress out about it any more. I'm looking at these first three months as me road testing, breaking in, and sorting out any issues the car has, while in between, I'm getting PPF and other mods done.

It's simply the way it is with this car, at this price point.

There is a recall for ZL1 I’m sitting in dealer right now and they are fixing it. It came out in April for the dash and wiring harness that causes flickers of dash, and possibility of causing car to just stop and turn off! If I can get the copy of the notification I’ll post it, then never mailed me anything on the recall so it concerns me!

It may be a TSB, but not a recall. I just checked and my there is no recall for my car.

Could be lots of things: bad BCM, bad wiring, bad ground, bad battery, one or more of the various issues documented in TSBs about wiring harness rub-thrus & ground issues...

I've had the driver's side seatbelt pretensioner fail and require dealer replacement.
