Michelin tire differences

PS4's vs Pilot Super Sports..........what are the major differences? Looking for a tire with good performance and offers decent wet weather performance when caught in the rain. They won't be caught in the snow nor freezing temperatures and I don't track my car.
Pilot Super Sports are easier to find and a little less money. I'll gladly spend more if the PS4's are worth it.

Costco and Direct Tire are both selling Pilot Super Sports. Am I incorrect in thinking they are still being produced?

The Pilot Super Sport is a good tire with decent treadwear. I had some on my 2010 2SS and they rode good and had good handling characteristics. I had SLP ZL series wheels which were an inch wider in front and rear. The super sport is a decent tire in the rain and cooler weather but still considered a summer tire. The PS4 is a upgraded Super Sport and if you aren’t going to drive your ZL1 daily then the SS would fit the bill in my opinion.

Pilot Super Sports are still OEM equipment on Corvettes, and still being manufactured. Even PS2 are still manufactured--Porsche guys still love them.

PS2 were the original great Pilot Sport HP street tire, then PSS, and now PS4S. With each one they improve on the last in terms of dry grip and handling.

I have PSS in 325/30/19 now for street tires on the rear of my ZLE because I found them New Old Stock DOT 2016 for a big discount and I'm planning to take them to Willow Springs Balcony (skidpad) and burn them up over a 2-3 day period with drifting/car control practice and general hooniganism.

PSS are great, but PS4S have more sheer grip. One nice thing about PSS is they're available in 345/30/19, which fits the ZLE fine if you move the wiring harness.

Seems the PS4's are out of stock at Costco, Tirerack, and Direct Tire. A reputable dealer has them in stock on ebay so ordered a set of the PS4's.
$120 rebate and no sales tax cinched the deal. Look forward to finding out how good they are.
Appreciate all the info from everyone.

I daily my 1LE (snow, rain, nice days, etc...) and the PS4's are awesome. I've gotten some crazy looks/comments when I stop for gas on a snowy morning in Kentucky, but they have yet to let me down. Awesome tire and well worth the price they charge.

My GY3R's are for sure a great sticky tire and designed for the ZLE. I never track the car, and enjoyed them till a bad nail episode. When checking all the other tires, with only moderate street & mountain road driving, they were worn to about 35% remaining, at about 4500 miles.

I went to the PS4's and am extremely pleased. I would guess there are less than 20 ZLE owners on this forum who would be able to feel a performance difference between the stock GY's. Plus...the PS4's have a mileage warranty.

In my opinion, an excellent tire for the ZLE.

Only double the cost of Goodyears but those are boycotted now :-)

Treadwear rating (at least on the rears) - not sure it matters that much

1200 vs 1600 not that much of a difference
