Failing steering rack.

Going to bring my car in for some warranty work. After a recent trip to tail of the dragon my front end alignment worked itself out.

A loud noise at low speed and from the front right wheel materialized. Also when jacked the the air, when turning the steering wheel with the car on the front wheels violently shake, almost like a jeep death wobble.

Im guessing a damper or the steering rack failed. Has anyone else dealt with this before?

FYI, ZLE's have cooling vent near the steering rack (electric rack) to keep it cool in heavy track use. Not sure the dragon is enough to do it but maybe. There is a post somewhere about it recently.

You hit any big potholes by chance? Iíve had 2 steering racks fail due to heavy hits in potholes. I could not see them. Obviously not on my ZLE but Iíve had it happen so if you did hammer a hole thereís a possibility the rack got effed up.

Hit one but with the right rear from the sound of it. Its possible though. Im curious to see how common it was, but hopefully the dealer can help tomorrow.

it is common enough to have read about the psycho steering rack more than a few times...this happens mostly at track events or driving aggressively like you mentioned.

Really? I cant find anything on it. Is it damaged or is it just something that eventually goes back to normal.

I just had a psycho steering wheel issue, but it was a bit different than yours. My "service power steering" notification came on and the steering started shaking violently, but with power steering still functional. It kept making noises and even shaking a bit after I shut off the car. When I restarted the car, it went away.

It's this issue:

I'm gonna take it in asap, masks, gloves, and all.
