4 piece Knee pads & Door insert piece.

I was thinking about getting the GM Factory 4 piece kit but they don’t come in the Shock colour. Plus they are very expensive over $600, can’t justify that. So I thought I would try out the GM Shock spray paint colour match on those 1SS plastic parts. First you have to have patience and don’t rush. Took be a total of four days to get it right, numerous repaints, wet sanding. So I roughed up the plastic first with sand paper, then cleaned them, then applied a bondable plastic primer. I let the primer sit and dry for half a day with two coats. I then sprayed the base coat with three sprays with 1/2 hour drying periods between sprays. I put them back in front of the fireplace for most of the day and let them sit to harden overnight. I had to wet sand trash and small bumps off, so some of them are done twice and some where done three times over. Next the clear coat, the most important to give it a shine and a harden texture. Same applies here, had to respray and wet sand until happy. The clear coat was best applied in light sprays to avoid runs, and put in front of fireplace. I used a pair of vice grips to avoid finger prints when spraying and when I put them in place to dry. Overall I can’t stress enough to go slow, if you think your going to spray once and it done your wrong. Hope this helps other think well maybe I can do this too, the worst I thought was if I didn’t like it I would just replace the plastic parts from GM. I also realize I am sure I am not the first to do this, I looked for another post to add to but couldn’t find one as similar.

Almost forgot, I added my stock GM fuel door to compare colour match in one of the pics. I did get the GM Black fuel door which I highly recommend the OEM one. Also I have a 3M clear bra roll left over from my front clear bra install and tried to fit it over the parts which would be great for added protection but I could not master that. Going to ask the wrap guy to do it for me.

Nice job man! I appreciate when people make small custom changes to make the car their own.

Well Done. You did it right not to rush. Those paint jobs need a lot of patience especially if you’re not a professional painter.

Really good job!

What I normally don't like about painted interior pieces is the thought of them being too easy to smudge up with fingerprints, but it doesn't look like yours would have that problem because they're not a mirror gloss.

Looking good!

Thanks for comments and your right the finger print problem is real and that’s why I used the vice grips and waited a long time for them to dry in front of fireplace. Used soft cotton gloves to snap them into place.

Thanks for comment.

Anyone out there with a Shock Camaro that needs a Custom Painted Engine Plenum Cover OEM in Shock colour.

I have an extra one. It’s painted with bondable primmer, GM colour matched Shock base coat and 3 coats of clear. $150 shipped. RPI charges $269 plus tax and shipping.

PM me if interested.

It looks very poor. It is much more effective to cover everything with double stitching leather.

Says the guy with fuzz dice, a police car model on the dash, and a flash light hanging off to the side. Plus a fire extinguisher on the other side. Your right your taste is much better then mine. Just sending you back the love.

Shock pieces trimmed out look nice, the whole white paint effect does not.

It was an add on when ordered. Don’t plug them in I guess if u don’t want them to light up. If you go aftermarket the issue will be quality and you probably could find one that doesn’t light up.
