Excellent work!! I'd like to do something similar in blue. Approximately how much paint was needed and how much did it cost? Just looking for rough #s to compare to the leather GM ones.

So I thought I would try out the GM Shock spray paint colour match on those 1SS plastic parts. First you have to have patience and don’t rush. Took be a total of four days to get it right, numerous repaints, wet sanding. So I roughed up the plastic first with sand paper, then cleaned them, then applied a bondable plastic primer. I let the primer sit and dry for half a day with two coats. I then sprayed the base coat with three sprays with 1/2 hour drying periods between sprays. I put them back in front of the fireplace for most of the day and let them sit to harden overnight. I had to wet sand trash and small bumps off, so some of them are done twice and some where done three times over. Next the clear coat, the most important to give it a shine and a harden texture. Same applies here, had to respray and wet sand until happy. The clear coat was best applied in light sprays to avoid runs, and put in front of fireplace. I used a pair of vice grips to avoid finger prints when spraying and when I put them in place to dry. Overall I can’t stress enough to go slow, if you think your going to spray once and it done your wrong. Hope this helps other think well maybe I can do this too, the worst I thought was if I didn’t like it I would just replace the plastic parts from GM. I also realize I am sure I am not the first to do this, I looked for another post to add to but couldn’t find one as similar.

Almost forgot, I added my stock GM fuel door to compare colour match in one of the pics. I did get the GM Black fuel door which I highly recommend the OEM one. Also I have a 3M clear bra roll left over from my front clear bra install and tried to fit it over the parts which would be great for added protection but I could not master that. Going to ask the wrap guy to do it for me.
Looks really Good! Nice job. How hard is it to replace the side bolsters? I hear you can easily mess up the clips.

It’s not hard at all, just grab and pull off, just pull around or loosen in a circle rotation of the side bolsters. One clip did stay on and I just pulled it out with pliers and reattach it.

Putting them back on is easy, line up the clips and press on gently to you hear it click into position.

Update:

I ended up getting the knee pad and sides wrapped with 3M clear to protect them. I scuffed up the drivers knee pad while driving And had to repaint that one. So the clear helps but does not fully protect from scratches. Hopefully the 3M works better, so far no problem.

That looks great! Very tastefully done while still standing out enough to definitely grab everyone's eye. Awesome job.

I can only hope Cruella de Vil here was attempting some humor that turned out as awful as that car's interior that they posted.
