These stock block cylinders are always out of round when you take them apart. I've talked to several others that have pulled theirs apart and found out the cylinders are not round including 6genmikes. I don't know if the NA guys are seeing the same or not, maybe its an FI issue with the higher boost levels some of us run.

Idk, if I am sleeving and I thought about it, why not go 4” while I’m at it? The sleeves are already longer giving better stability of the pistons in the hole, (~5.8” If I remember correctly). Rod angle/pistons speed vs higher rpm for Longevity/wear seems like a wash to me...

On that note anyone seems or heard anything about these power bore sleeves? Seems cheaper than darton

I wish more peoples experience led them to this conclusion. I would love to go with a 427. That being said people are saying a 388 is stronger. Seems like the fastest guys spin their motors high.

I like more meat between the cylinder walls if you are going to boost it and spin the hell out of it.

It all depends on what you are doing. The bottleneck of the LT platform is with lacking a 6-bolt based block. You're going to lift a head before you break a block.

I bought a forged 416 short block from Thompson Motorsports to go with my twin turbo kit and will be looking to make about 1200 rwhp with it, that should be plenty to go 8s with and that will be plenty for me.

What lifts heads? Peek cylinder pressure? If so what is the best way to increase hp without increasing peek cylinder pressure? More rpm? More stroke? Both?

What is your idea of an ideal lt engine?

Cylinder pressure is the primary reason why a head will lift. Decreasing peak torque and increasing RPM is one way to get around this.

Build your next engine to spin to 8000 or 8500.

Mike's sleeved block leaked water, he's running a stock block with a 416. best solution out there as far as I know now.

Well crap. Is this a common problem? Who did the sleeves?

you can get corner bolts on the LT1 so this may help.

I have had sleeved Honda blocks (Darton, Golden Eagle) for decades now, In general they all weep a little watter. It is NOT uncommon to run a tad bit of radiator sealant in these engines (I do on my type R). None of us like it, it is the unspoken reality of the engine build.

I already had a valve train failure and this new big cam with moderate lift redlines at 7200 RPM... 8000 RPM would require a non-DD valvetrain, IMO of course.
