UK 2014 Z28 owners with a few Qs
Hi there
Pretty much what the title says, Ive had my Z28 since just before Christmas and am loving it more and more as the weather gets better here, its not really an ideal car for driving in frost and ice ........ Car is a White 2014 with 1 speaker ICE and no A/C, it paid a visit to Redline Motorsports in Florida before getting on a boat so is running 578 rwhp and 511 rwlb/ft and has camber mounts, adjustable arms and Recaro CS seats fitted, I believe its 1 of 8 Z28's in the UK. Im loving it even without having much of a chance to drive it hard yet, but I have a few questions as well, any assistance anyone can give very much appreciated: Traction control - I believe it has 5 modes but how do I access each one? Steering boss - Ive got a real nice Oreca carbon wheel to go on but the supplied boss pinches the Cruise Control etc. cables, any guidance on bosses that fit? Is the diff mechanical or e-diff? Any info on how it works would be appreciated. Why do I only have Isofix behind the passenger seat? Where did the hood and trunk hinges come from, they definitely werent fitted before it was painted? Is there any option to retrofit A/C, decent ICE and parking sensors? Does anyone know why these werent fitted on a car that already weighs 3900lb? Ive already got trackdays at Nürburgring and Spa lined up and need to get it noise tested to see where else I can drive it (Zandvoort is also on the cards if it will meet regs), I have a feeling its going to be rather epic. |

To access PTM modes, press the traction control button twice and scroll through the modes with the +/- buttons. You'll see the modes on the screen between the Tach and Speedometer.
Diff. is a mechanical Torsen limited. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, been awake for awhile. Oh and congrats!

Please do not attempt to install A/C (or any of the other items) to this wonderfully designed machine. Chevrolet left these items off for weight reduction and simplicity for racing purposes. You have 1 of 12 built without A/C, enjoy having one of the rarest of the rare and it will be a blast on the tracks you mentioned!

Keep in mind that this was a purpose built track car (that imo makes one hell of a daily driver). There are no sensors, on models with the ac/stereo there isn't even bluetooth streaming for media....hell, there isn't even soundproofing added for the cabin.

Reference to painting of hinges before install. Primered then assembled and painted with hinges assembled. That’s how my hood/hinges are and I only assume that’s the same process with trunk/hinges. Mine is early 14 Z28 so not sure if process changed later or someone with more knowledge can correct me.
If that answers your question as I understand it Congrats!! |

Wow, thanks for the replies, much appreciated
To give a bit of background this is my "crazy" car, it replaces a Ferrari 355 that I managed to launch into a field in Scotland last year - turned out it was a lower arm breaking that caused it but this doesnt mean I dont get heat from ALL of my friends about it ALL the time I wanted something fast that puts a smile on your face every time but was crazy enough not to finish as a daily driver - this thing definitely ticks those boxes! Everyone in UK that sees it wants to know what it is, how big the engine is (tell them 7 litres and you get some great reactions ) and comments on the noise, you dont get many cars like this round these parts There are actually few similarities with the 355 too, the power delivery induction noise and composure on the road are all very similar - it was also a lot cheaper which Im not complaining about. Cant wait to get it out on track, I also have an E82 135i trackcar with ~500hp and M3 running gear and a MR2 Roadster with a Lotus Exige engine fitted, these will be kept in reserve for when the Z28 undoubtedly fails noise testing, we have limits as low as 90dB here :( Interesting there were so few with no A/C or Stereo too, it means the trophy of rarest car on the driveway passes from my V10 Phaeton as there are a massive 33 of these in the UK As well as loads of trackdays I also used to driftrace a little and have to say the chassis and the way it gets power down/diff on this are up there with any competition car I ever drove, its an incredible piece of engineering. This was why I was asking about the diff as I cant believe theres not some voodoo going on at the back end ....... I am expecting to be able to do some very crazy things in this car once Ive got a bit more experience My bonnet hinges are drilled metal, black with white overspray and dont line up with the cutouts on the bonnets, I had a vision of the Chevy engineers in Nurburgring pits removing weight as required (hence the 1 sided isofix as well) - maybe mine is different from some reason, who knows? Will see how I get on on without A/C but still find it strange its not fitted when the car is already pretty heavy, I do think Im going to need parking sensors as we dont have as much space over here as you do though |

Thanks though, that thread explains why it only has one isofix (he cut the other one out) and why the steering boss snags on the cabling for the Oreca wheel (he ground it down himself) but nice to see theres no other nasty surprises Also interesting to read the top speed comments, Ive found that above maybe 120 my Ferrari and BMW accelerated more quickly despite being less powerful - Ive seen GPS 178 in the BMW, I dont think the Z would get there due to the aero. I need to return the old seats to him at some point so will be sure to say hello from Camaro5 when I do |

We definitely need more videos of a Z28 on the ring!
Congrats on the purchase. What mods did they do to get to that RWHP number? |
