I love this site for all its knowledgeable members and community, but shit if you guys don't give me anxiety about stuff I didn't know were problems on these cars. Oil pump, carbon fiber insert clear failing, and now this. Lol.

I'm doing my best to control my ocd and not look for problems because I know I will find them but this doesn't help but at the same time does.

Thought I would share my experience with my 2023 1ss car so maybe it will help someone else.

Picked up my car and noticed that the passenger side rear corner of the lower rear bumper facia was not flush to the fender. This was the corner right below the tail light. I found this thread and thought maybe it was just heat but had a feeling something more was going on because I couldn't physically just push the bumper into place.

So I ended up taking the bumper cover off last night and found that the rear most plastic tab on the passenger side of the bumper cover was underneath the hook on the body, instead of on top where it should be. It appeared the factory just didn't see it was in the wrong place and pushed all the other tabs in leaving that part sticking out because the tab couldn't go in any further.

Just in case anyone else has this issue, the bumper still fit with just about 1/8 inch gap so it was hard to see what was going on.

On a 23 (or a 22 ZLE in my case), you have to remove the entire bumper to even get to the point where you can see if this is the issue or not, right? There's no way to even see in there and see if you have this problem because the taillights can't be removed without taking the bumper off?

Yeah sorry, I wasn’t very clear. So the issue was the rear most tab on the side of the car, not the rear of the car. When I said below the tail light I meant just in front of and below the quarter panel.

I was able to just remove the screws and pull passenger side of the bumper cover loose, move the tab up, a push it back in place.

When it heats up in the sun it’s going to back out again and you’ll be doing this all over.

Results of the zip-tie fix will vary. My car was parked outside in the sun all day and it got up to 110 degrees here. Trunk opened and closed just fine.

I ended up doing this fix as well. Bought some 250lb zip ties, only to discover they were just *barely* too wide for the openings. I did the driver side first, no issues aligning it and getting it set into place (I ended up using 2 45 lb zip ties on 2 tabs, and 1 on another tab)....although the passenger side ended up popping out even further after fixing the drivers side, so with that one, I had to press in while pulling a couple of pre-prepped zip ties with pliers to get it to *mostly* align. Its not bad, but its not perfect.
In hindsight, I think it mightve gone smoother in my case if I had 1 person pressing in on the other side too at the same time when doing the first side (so the pressure is already on the bumper). I might go back and redo it at some point, but its still far better than it was, so maybe not.

My ziptie fix that I did back in 2018 is still holding up, the gaps have nearly been eliminated on both sides.

That said, the official fix for 2016-2018 cars is TSB 17-NA-336, see at https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...34617-9999.pdf (the only problem with this is that the bumper must come off, which is tricky as it's very easy to break off a flimsily attached plastic retainer plate in the center, under the trunk latch, ask me how I know).

Similar issue yet my camaro was rear ended and while it was repaired quite well, the rear bumper now squeaks while I drive and the gap has grown. I am still under my 36k warranty, what does anyone suggest I do?

My 2023 is doing this as well. Is there any fix that works?

I have this issue also. I'm preparing to tear down my entire ride and put in Jannetty's 125, F1 interchiller, and lots of other stuff, plus some cosmetic things. I will definitely add this to my list while she's on the blocks. Thanks for posting this.
