Question ZL1 (not 1LE) Track Alignment

(I searched first)

I ran slightly more that the recommended maximum front negative camber last season -2.3/-2.4. The Track Prep Manual says -2.0 +/- .15.

Front tire wear was fairly flat, but is there a benefit to going back to the recommended range or should I just get as much as I can get?

Rear tire wear was noticeably more on the inside.

Alignment is scheduled for Friday afternoon, so a quick response is appreciated.

As you get faster, you’ll start to notice more outside wear on these heavy cars. I think -2.3 is a good starting point on track, leave it be, as i don’t think you’ll notice a favorable difference.

Yea it really depends on how much you are drive on the street vs. on the track and how hard you are pushing on track. I've been running -2.5 front and -1.5 rear on my car and the tire wear is pretty good though I am seeing a bit more outside shoulder wear up front so it my be time for a bit more front camber.

Id max the F camber and just be done with it. I got mine to 2.6F with 1.6R. If you do it id see if the could normalize L vs R rear camber to 1.6 on both sides. PS The toe looks good and within nice comfy spec range.

That is the GM recommended front camber because that is the most that is easily attainable with the stock equipment. The inside wear is likely from driving the car on the street.

Personally I run -3.0

Dealership did it and came back with -2.6/-1.9. I think it is bullshit and they just tried to match the ZL1 1LE minimums. Car drives straight, so we'll see.

See how she feels. Personally i think 1.9 is way too much for the rear.

For an SS 1LE that’s used mostly on the street but with some spirited weekend drives and occasional track duty, should I max front camber or just aim for GM track specs?

I drive pretty long distances to/from various track venues. The car feels great with 2.6F and 1.6R camber.
No unusual wear on inside shoulders. Personally I'd prefer to have a car set up for best handling regardless. I'd simply watch the F tire wear and make a longer term decision based on it. The rear is not far off GM specs anyway. The chances are you'll go thru a set fast enough anyway if you drive it hard enough - track or not...

I'm running -3* front and -1.5*rear on a autocross only car, but I will be running a few trackdays this season so it looks like I should have decent wear with what others are running.
