The OLM is nothing more than a computer algorithm that factors in time, stop and go, highway and spirited driving among other things, it has nothing to do with the oil or quality. You could park it in a garage for a year and your OLM will read 0%, want it to last longer drive like your mother.

Is this new formulation specifically for track cars? Should I start using it for my ‘16 2SS?

It's designed to work in all conditions so you don't have to run different oil for track and street.

It is designed, so GM can fill them at the factory with Dexos2 oil - which hadnt been the case before.
It is also designed so GM dealers have Dexos2 oil to satisfy needs of those that track their cars - which hadnt been the case before. Also, since this oil is much more expensive than the original factory fill oil, there likely is a higher margin for the dealers. Once you fill with 0w40 Dexos 2, or 5w40 Dexos2 oil you do not have to change it between street and track use. It works for both. Simply said, GM filled a gap as far as their ablity to sell the oil they themselves required for track duty. It really is that simple imo. |

Black or dark oil does not mean it's bad. Oil analysis is the only way to tell if oil is good or bad regardless of color. Discoloration is a natural byproduct of heat and soot particles, which are too small to wear out your engine.

Anyone price this at their dealer? Summit racing wants $60 a case and the dealer here wants $23/ quart!

Just bought 31 quarts (5 6-quart cases plus 1 additional quart) from Speedway Motors directly, not through their ebay or amazon stores. Free shipping for orders over $99 and a $10 coupon for signing up for their promo emails. Came out to $276.94 shipped to TX, or $8.93 per quart shipped.

Summit is advertising $12 rebate per 5 quarts on their product page. Rebate supposed to run from 4/1 to 9/30, but the rebate is not up on the Mobil1 website yet therefore the link from Summit isn't correct. Not sure if Speedway purchases will be eligible for the rebate.

Should we really use this oil in our Camaro?
Reading through the literature, it mentions Diesel designed filters. Does the 6th Gen Camaro come with this type of filter or filters or is it only special in the latest Corvette? |

Guess I answered my own question. From the Performance Supplement:
During track usage, do not follow the Engine Oil Life System status. Change the engine oil after four hours of accumulative track usage. If 15W-50 oil is used, it must be changed back to the engine oil listed in the “Engine Oil” section of the owner’s manual. |
