Jacks
What jack does everyone use for the ZL1 1le. I already have the lift point form zl1 add on and the lift puck magnet thing. I have an old jack that needs to be replaced just want to get a feel for what people have had good success with.

https://www.hfqpdb.com/coupons/3358_...10980.0218.png This good for another week; there were some that expired today - I got an orange Daytona low profile long reach one for $159.99 - $30 off. Keep in mind the 20% off coupons don't work for these jacks. |

don't use the zl1 mag pad and lift puck unless you are super sure that it will be stable on your jack. Mine slipped off and crushed my rocker panel once.
I immediately went and returned the magpad/puck thingy and got the permanent lift pads and they were far superior. |

^^ THIS Lifting from the rear end, the rear "cross-member" just behind the pumpkin, you could use jack stands on the pinch welds. Maybe someone knows if some rubber inserts that can be used on the jack stands so that they don't scratch/remove paint from the pinch welds? [EDIT] Never mind. There are several places that sell jack stand rubber pads. If supporting the vehicle on the pinch welds are the only solution, I would at least use a rubber pad or some plywood. Something that is able to compress and wouldn't compromise the paint so corrosion/rust starts forming. This method is like chalk on a blackboard for me. Seeing how his beloved car is being tilted back and forth on those jack stands, metal to metal.: Last edited by mrgoodbytes; 03-27-2019 at 06:23 PM. |

I agree. Stay clear of those magpad/puck thingy. Damn, I had one as secure as possible on my floor Jack. She sat perfect in the saddle. I pumped the jack very slowly while praying. Just as the tire came off the ground the car shifted and bent the pinch weld. Luckily it didn't fall of the Jack. Btw You can straighten a bent pinch weld by using an adjustable wrench. Just start at one end walk it along until is straight. No doubt it's now weaker, but, at least it doesen't look f*cked. |
