OK! All my parts are here and I'll start my project tomorrow. The CSP / Stainless Works long tube headers look really nice! I'm still waiting for my custom setup of Granatelli 0 Ohm extended length plug wires for the coil relocation kit from Katech. I order two sets, (1) Black and (1) Red. Red is not going to be avlaiable for a while, but I wanted to go ahead and at least have the same kind I will be using eventually. One thing I wanted to ask an opinion on: Since I'm doing all this work, should I looking at an X-Pipe and replace the stock one, or even consider replacing the rest of the stock exhaust system? I'm not is a hurry to complete this project as the weather here in Ohio is still garbage. Thanks!

OK, so I'm keeping my stock "x-pipe" if that's what the stock one is referred to as. But, I did order the Corsa Variable Sound Axleback Exhaust for NPP with Black Diamond Tips (#14789BLK) from CSP. So, this will complete any mods I'm doing with the exhaust. It was important for me to keep the NPP function, as I can be quite when leaving the house/going down the street I live on!
Also, I got the QuickJacks and Lift Point blocks all worked out ! It's pretty slick how these work ! I can position them forward a slight bit more if I want. But, QuickJack response to a support ticket regarding how far back is too far back. They said as long as the front of the QuickJack isn't further back past the front door seem toward the rear, it will be fine. I will still use (4) 6,000lbs jack stand under the car while it's in the air. Take care! Last edited by 2023_ZL1-AUTO; 01-25-2023 at 12:18 PM. |

First real day in the garage doing tear down. Didn't make much progress as I had quite a bit of other house items that I needed to attend to. I am doing new valve covers and the coil relocation kit from Katech so that's why so much more is removed vs just what's needed for the headers and ultra catt install.

OK, no work getting done on my project since its crazy cold here. right now, lows are in the teens and my garage kerosene heater needs to stay working a lot longer at any given time to warm it up enough to work in there. The problem with that is, my carbon monoxide detector goes off after 20 minutes. So, I ordered an electric slit unit that's A/C & Heat pump system, it's 27,000 BTU 2.25 ton dual wall mount units, it will work to -13F. So it will be good for 99.9% of our winter days. I plan on installing it this weekend and then getting back to working on my project!

Nice project, enjoy that's the self gratification of doing the work yourself, I had my days . I did the same with the AC/Heat Pump unit single wall (my garage smaller ) , but opposite summer the garage is well over 100 degrees, so now I can hang out at a comfortable 76 to 80 degrees, you will be nice and toasty. Pic of my wall unit , pump outside of course. Enjoy soon.

JTS ! Nice to see it's not a crazy idea! I can deal with hot, but we get crazy high humidity here in central Ohio almost unbearable. This winter has been colder than normal. Most winters it gets cold for a few weeks, with little snow then almost like early spring temps the rest of the time.

Going to work on the ZL1 today... hope to make some good progress. My Spped Engineering exhaust showed up yesterday. Can't figure out why only one tube has a 3 bolt flange and not other do.

You'll see once you get under the car. It bolts to the factory flange on the passenger side.

So, I was so ready to get my build moving forward big time to day... then I had a minor accident with a 3 ton floor jack and sliced my thumb in half, literally to the bone. So now I'm sidelined for a few days before I can get back to my build. But, my Garnatelli custom length, custom boot angle, 0 Ohm wires showed up today FedEx, the red high temp silicone set won't be here for another 2 weeks. Don't know why I ordered 2 sets when I only need one. I guess I thought my project would be complete by now. I must of hit my head last week too!

So, I know I'm headed down a rabbit hole here. But I do value this forms members onions and suggestions. I'm thinking now, since I'm replacing the complete exhaust, adding CSP 2" headers, added a new 100mm Soler throttle body, added CAI cold air intake (but probably will swap it out for a big gulp), adding Katech value covers and coil relocation and adding new Granatelli Malevolent coil packs, added new NGK iridium plugs and new Granatelli 0'ohm plug wires. Should I just go one more step into the rabbit hole and do a Weapon-X PD Supercharger CAM shaft kit, State 2 or Stage 3? If you recommend I do, will stock lifts suffice? Would this be a domino and I'd need to change out anything else I'm overlooking? The key is, I don't want to remove the heads. Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions!

If you do a cam that’s pretty much opening the engine door you cannot close back. My 2 cents.. everything short of that looked like a great first step to me. Hope your thumb heals quickly and be careful! We need all our members and their thumbs!!
