Fluid change after track days

Hey just wondering what the majority of you guys use for trans and diff fluid, just ran a track day and want to flush and put clean fluids in. I have an 18 ZLE. Also I come from Vette's and often had to change the clutch fluid so the slave doesn't get clogged. Is that still an issue with these cars? haven't heard much talk of it but don't want to assume. Thanks

I do:
- Diff fluid once a season (10-4034 Dexron 75W-90)
- Trans fluid once or twice a season (Amsoil TorqueDrive)
- Brake fluid once a season (Castrol SRF)
- Oil change every other event (Mobil 1 15W-50)

I would ONLY use the GM / ACDelco 10-4034 fluid in rear diff. It has the LSD friction modifier for our differentials.

There is no separate clutch reservoir. Fluid is shared with the brake fluid reservoir. I haven't heard of any issues with the slave being clogged on these cars.

You can bleed the clutch -- there are two methods in the service manual. First way is using the bleeder valve. Second way is with a vacuum pump through the brake fluid reservoir.

Bleed brakes after every track day.
Fluids every 3 whether it needs it or not.

I use all the fluids GM specd for the ZL1. Over the counter. My opinion is that they flog these car harder during proving than we are ever going to, and those fluids work for them.

Nothing against other quality brands, but have not had cause to switch.

You should not be running the OE brake fluid on the track. Even the track prep guide states:

For track events or competitive driving, it is recommended that the brake fluid be replaced with a high-performance brake fluid that has a dry boiling point greater than 279° C (543° F). After conversion to the high-performance
brake fluid, follow the brake fluid service recommendations outlined by the fluid manufacturer. Do not use silicone or DOT-5 brake fluids.

With Castrol SRF, it's fine to change it once a season. They recommend every 18 months. I do a visual inspection of the brake fluid before every track event. If it's clear still and I have a firm pedal feel, it's good to go.

Heard lots of good things about Castrol SRF.
Slightly derailing the thread but how much fluid do you usually need for the brakes RamAir02 and what process do you like to use to change the fluid?

Only experience I have is with a Mityvac vacuum pump on my previous V6.

Two liters will do a full flush.

This is way overkill. I went about 1 year on SRF with stock brake pads and stock tires (plus a few sessions on Supercar 3R tires) at 16 different tracks. I never bled the brakes and never had any brake fluid issues.

Also it takes a little under 1L to flush the brake fluid. The motive pressure bleeder makes it easier.

It probably takes more brake fluid if you have the dealership (or someone with the correct computer) do it and cycle the ABS for you but I have never bothered with that.

I use the Motive bleeder to do a pressure bleed / flush. I keep 2 liters of SRF on hand, as 2004YZFR1 mentioned. A full flush will use just about or slightly over a liter, so you need the second one as a backup.

Same here, I use just 1 bottle to flush, also don't cycle the ABS. 0 Issues for me. This is with track pads and slick tires, my brakes get pretty hot.

Just curious if you have tried the Tremec fluid and still chose the Amsoil? How is the Amsoil when cold?

I did not try the Tremec fluid first. I was actually not aware of it when I swapped the OE fluid for Amsoil TorqueDrive. I will probably try the Tremec fluid for next season (or perhaps before my last couple of DE events this season) since I'm due for another fluid change soon.
