Leak, but from what?

Hey,

This weekend I discovered a leak from the center of the car as I was changing the oil. I'm pretty sure the leak is water, which obviously evaporates, so I never noticed before. It also only happens right after a drive, which has me baffled. Once the car has cooled, it stops. It is clear water, no odour.

I checked the cooling fluid, all topped up.

Here's a link to a picture and video I made of the leak in action:

Any ideas?

If you're certain it's not coolant, the only thing I can think of is condensate. Drive with the A/C off and see if it happens.

It's really easy to tell if it is condensation or a fluid. Put some on your fingers and roll it around, if it is water it will feel like water, if it is a fluid it will feel oily and slick. Looks like water to me so most likely just condensation.

The a/c drain on these cars is in the dead cnter under the firewall. If its just h2o don't worry about it....

A/C condensate...but why would you need to run the A/C in the UK. Does the temp ever get over 60F in October?

This was exactly the answer I hoped for! Yes, it is clear water coming out, I just thought the placed it came from was odd.

Why run AC? Because it's comfortable. Also, especially in wet and cold seasons, it de-humidifies, which is quite a British problem.

I've noticed that there will be a wet spot on the pavement under the center of the car, slightly to the left (maybe right near where the drivers seat is). I'm hoping this is the same thing, it seems like water, but I only see the "stain" not the accumulation of liquid.

Any thoughts?

Same answer as above - most likely AC condensation. Look under it after you've parked it for about 5 minutes on a day you had the AC on. Then check it like mentioned above. Mine does the same thing here in hot SC. There is always a dried stain after the car has set for a few hours.

Oh yeah of course, there was a disclaimer on the window sticker before I bought the car.

Cool cool, I just wanted to check. I haven't really been using the AC, but I have been using the windshield defogger so I guess that makes sense.
