Really liking the WCT color

This car is in many small ways much nicer than my ‘18 ZLE was. The most notable is the FAR BETTER oil pressure, at all engine speeds. I don’t have that nagging feeling like my oil pump might die at any moment! I missed the ‘18’s performance almost as soon as I sold it. Took about a year to find this one. Still in my opinion the very best bang for the buck in the performance car world. I also believe the TR-6060 is the best close ratio manual out there today. So glad to have this car…again!

Does anyone have the total number of ‘22’s buillt?

JJ

Congrats on the new car! Yeah I’m liking WCT as well. Hard to fully capture its depth in pictures though…

Congrats on the new car. What was the previous oil pressure on the other car compared to this one? I would think they are the same unless you had a issue?

I love that color. What kind of oil pressure were you seeing on your 2018? My 2018 oil pressure is never low, on street or at higher track temps.

My car sees so little street time that I always run 15w50, change it after every 4 track days.

Congratulations on the ZLE! Did the oil pump fail on your 2017? If so, at what mileage. What are the oil pressure differences?

Hi all,

I never had an oil pump failure but it was in the range of build dates that worried me a lot. High oil pressure was about 35 average at cruising engine speeds. This car is 45-47 at the same speeds, mid 30’s at idle. In the ‘18 I was initially using 5w-30 Mobil 1, but later switched to the 0w-40 now recommended. That did help a little with pressure, but l always was worrying anyway. I’m still shocked that Melling/GM used this type of oil pump on such a strong motor.

Even though l had a fantastic 7 year 125k extended warranty, I was just not interested in risking a blown motor while on a Sunday drive through the mountains! I sold the car with only 7700 miles with brand new PS4’s. The buyer got a pampered car!!!

But this new one feels a bit stronger even without the Mamo TB. Only 1k on it now but it just feels very strong. Also no way near the ugly off-idle stumble the’18 had. I guess a better engine management program. And the copper free brakes feel the same as the ‘18.

All in all, loving it and not going to sell it. My retirement gift to myself!

Take care,

JJ

I’m actually visiting your great state right now. I wish I had my ZLE with me. Just did a ride in Jerome, lots of supercars running the roads. Glad this one is better for you. I experience the pressures your getting with your new car in my 2018. 👍

Congrats! Love that color as well. I ordered my 23 in radiant red, which is basically the same color.

Looks SHARP! I believe 1LE wheels are the most liked of the Camaro line up, and I definitely agree they’re great and work perfect with the overall car design Kind of wish ZLEs came with that wheel design!

I fu ckin hate red with a passion but if it's anything like Mazda's soul red crystal, I can respect it. It's literally the only red hue I've ever seen on a car I gave a double take to. It's certainly looks like candy paint/transition from the factory.

Mazda’s Soul Red is magnificent, but I do enjoy how pure Red Hot is. I can imagine it will be pretty much a non-metallic Candy Apple with a Ceramic treatment.
