SC3 Tires Damp conditions

I'm going to the track this weekend and it looks like saturday will be raining with sunday maybe being damp or not raining at all. Trying to see if anyone here has run the SC3 in just damp conditions w/o puddles on the track. Not sure what to do atm if the weather doesnt change. I'll most likely sit out saturday but planning to run sunday if the track is just damp but no puddles everywhere.

I probably wouldn't track those, on the street damp isn't a problem but I'd only run the SC3 in dry conditions.

I ran a full wet session with SC3Rs and it wasn't horrible. Front grip was actually very good, rear grip wasn't....I couldn't go past half throttle, anywhere.

I've run days in the wet on SC3 tires before. Won't be running PBs by any means but it's good practice driving at the traction limit without wearing tires as much. There are other tires that will grip better, but as long as you still have some tread left for water evacuation you should still be OK to go out on them.

A couple of different ways you can approach it. If you're looking to work on those traction limit handling skills more you can run with all systems and be VERY careful with your throttle inputs, braking zones, and corner entry speeds at first. If not, PTM Wet does a pretty good job with balancing TC and ESC against the wet surface limits and makes the car much easier to drive in that condition. Either way, you should be just fine if you work up to the limit slowly.

Thanks for the input, this is what I was thinking. It doesnt look like a downpour, I'll go out on them and take it easy should be a fun time.

Provided you have decent tread depth just run in PTM wet and watch your throttle on exits. The SC3's actually have surprising grip in the rain and mine were down to 1/4 of tread depth. It's a good learning experience, but yes stay away from standing water.

I echo the others. On a wet scidpad with consistent water coverage (or low speed corner with similar water conditions), the grip was surprisingly high, with understeer predominating. PTM Wet provides fantastic protection against and assistance with exit oversteer.

High speed with puddles is the unnerving part; the treads on the SC3 can quickly fill (I was in a downpour so perhaps not so bad with just rain). Watch your speed and slowly build to comfort level.

If there is some run off on the track, I’d go race mode in the wet. Practice your reflexes and limit handling abilities. Also great to develop the spider sense of when oversteer/under steer is about to occur.

Agree with most here. SC3 with decent tread and start off in PCM wet mode. Moving up as the track dries. You'll have a great weekend

Success, had a great weekend had to do my HPDE3 checkride in the rain.. no issues at all, car drove great, had plenty of grip. Thanks for the input every one. I ran competition mode wet.

Very short clip
