ZL1-1LE BRAKE LINES -STAINLESS STEEL?

SO, for all my track friends, and even more so for the ZL1-1LE guys.

Has anyone swapped out oem to any stainless steel brake lines?

I always have on my cars and bikes, but I have been told by some, "it isn't needed".

I figured you guys that track more often woud give some insight to your thoughts, experiences, opinions.

Thanks

Bottom line is YES, they are beneficial. When the brakes are INITIALLY applied you can notice QUICKER caliper engagement as well as HARDER caliper engagement because stainless lines DO NOT internally flex outward as the brake fluid is being pushed thru them under pressure compared to a stock rubber brake line. It is kind of the same effect as using a HARDER track brake pad in that the brakes engage quicker and HARDER. I use GOODRIDGE stainless brake lines and I know quite a few of the other track rats use them as well.

I wanted to buy the Carbon brake lines. I even placed the order and paid never received them and eventually got my money back. Most likely going to order some SS lines just looking to see what the best one to order.

I am very leary if someone hasn't made them for the specific car. the lengths can be too short, which is a problem. Thats why even in goodridge they have ones for the 6 piston and different ones for the 4 piston.

Spieglers are great, used those on my SV1000s and SV650S.

i find it hard to believe we buy a $7500 package and they cant add a $100 item onto the car from the factory. the 1LE 100% has crappy rubber lines?

makes no sense goodridge states for the 6 pot but then places that sell them say not for the 1LE. hows the zl1 and the 1le different in braking besides the no dust shield and the 2 piece front rotors?

FYI i emailed the contact for spieglers since they are in dayton ohio and do custom sets. im in ohio too.

interested if spiegler gets back to you. I like their products as well.

The non 1le fitment refers to the ss 1LE if I recall. the location (top or bottom of the caliper) where the line connects between the 4 and 6 pistons makes a huge difference in length. I remember it being an issue on the 5th gen too.

They are a dress up item. They will make no difference in braking performance.
