What fuel are you running in the 14:1 compression engine? Dedicated E85 or race gas id assume?

Are you doing any sort of break-in schedule to seat the rings, or are you going right to ripping on the dyno?

They are following LME protocols on ENGINE breakin procedures (I dont know specifically what those are LOL). I have been running E85 ever since FLEX FUEL sensor was installed . It is readily available in my area fortunately.

Looking good. Looks like you used the LT2 intake rather than MSD? Seems like you budget for this is very high. What would I budget for a motor + labor like this?

25-30K A properly built high powered NA car is just as expensive as a blower or turbo car.

The reason I did do NOT do MSD manifold is that you lose some LOW to MID RANGE power compared to LT2 manifold. You DO pick up some power in the upper ranges, probably 15 or so HP. Since the car is a daily driver as well I DID NOT want to sacrifice any low to mid range drivability though.

The CAM selection took into consideration that I DID NOT want to use a higher stall torque convertor which inherently will have some slippages in the lower RPM ranges.

The engine was fired up and the car was test driven today with some breakin miles. Tomorrow it goes on the dyno for tuning, I will post up video when that happens.

Anatomy of a VERY QUICK Dual Purpose Car ???
I can't wait to see this build 14: 1 compression big cam A10 transmission.
I suspect you will be changing the title to
Anatomy of a VERY QUICK Track car.

Well we all draw those lines differently between what is acceptable for a daily driver vs. a car that is a purely a dedicated track car. Even GM at times cant make that distinction.

For instance having owned a ZL1 1LE A10 for a short period of time, I quickly determined that for me GM crossed the line with that car into the dedicated track car area. The ride quality was absolutely brutal and they perhaps put the most deadly set of tires in the WET that has EVER been put on a production car (GY3R).

THAT car no doubt was PRIMARILY designed to go around the racetrack with little regard for ride quality or safety should ANY amount of water be encountered on the road.

Specifically MY car was built to be a much more pleasant car on the road as well as being able to perform at a level that would be quicker than MOST dedicated track cars assuming those cars are near their original curb weights.

Dyno Today

OK prior to doing the dyno today we had some bets about the power this car would make. I thought somewhere around 600 and the tuner thought around 550 due to the fact that we were NOT using an MSD manifold with 103 Throttle body and the fact that we used a somewhat MILDER cam.

Well my initial goal with this car was to be able to make the same power as my ZL1 STOCK did. With that in mind, the dyno chart below shows BOTH my current 416 NA engine at 554HP and a ZL1 at 551HP. OF course being supercharged the Zl1 makes the power QUICKER BUT if you look at around 5000 RPM on and the graphs are almost identical.

I mentioned earlier that with the A10 in track mode my car doesnt really see below 4500 RPMS anyway.

Switch to a MSD intake, 103 Throttle body with a slightly larger cam and the car will see 580-600 pretty easily with the MAX power in the 6500 RPM range compared to roughly 6200 now. The stock short block that WAS in the car PRIOR to the 416 saw MAX power around 5800 RPM.

The SECOND dyno chart compares the engine that WAS in the car (stock cubic inch) to the NEW 416.

NEXT step is to put 500 miles on the engine because it currently had breakin AMSOIL in it. I will try and do that in the next week or so. Then the engine will get its 15-50W AMSOIL. Next track date is roughly two weeks so before THEN we will also install a couple of racing seats using for now the stock seat belts. If time permits we will also try the MSD Intake, 103TB and larger cam.

ALSO update TODAY Zl1 style side skirts EOS INSTALLED

After the DYNO fun was over, I installed some EOS ZL1 style side skirts. These skirts come with 15 pre-drilled holes in each skirt and some double sided tape. The DONT come with screws.

My suggestion is to NOT use the tape or screws. I used BALLON pop-rivets in the pre-drilled holes and added about 10 more per side to the existing 15 holes they pre-drilled. They are VERY sturdy if you use the pop rivets. Since you drilling 3/16th inch holes in the EXISITING rocker panels PRIOR to using your pop rivet gun you DONT have to worry about rust issues since the rivets are aluminum and you ARE NOT going thru metal.

The fit is GOOD. PICS below.

UPDATE 5/14

Forgot to mention that it is a good idea to use vinyl door edge guard material to protect the EDGES of the carbon fiber so that it provides at least some protection should you catch it on something. Look at the LAST PIC in this post to see how that should be instqlled. You will need about 14 feet of door edge material. In addition it gives it a finished look. If it is NOT hard to press on then find some that is so that it doesnt work itself off. Look closely in the last picture at the bottom edge of the skirt that points to the ground and you will see the BLACK door edge guard molding I used. It also comes in a carbon fiber color but the weave doesnt match the skirt which is why I used BLACK. I got mine at OREILLYS. It comes in a 15 foot roll.

The fit is GOOD. PICS below.

Love this build. Going same route I would go. Big N.A power and a 10spd. Now you just gotta add big aero!
