I would reccomend your friend investing a few dollars in a couple of blind spot mirrors for the side mirrors. I added one to each side of my 2SS/RS the second day I had the car. They give me piece of mind when I switch lanes!

Mr_Draco hit the nail on the head, mirror positioning is crucial, not just in the Maro but in any car!! I've had mine since the first week of June and it's gets better everytime your behind the wheel!! As far as the clutch goes as alot of people have posted in several different threads it is a different animal but once you get used to her......Piece of Cake!!
DRIVE ON!!

My '95 V-6 is my daily driver and my new 1SS is my good weather car. Remembering reverse location is just the start of my problems! Windshield wiper control location, depth perception due to different windshield angle and size, seat position, and then the clutch feel is totally different for both. (Not that there is anything wrong with either clutch.)

I laughed at myself one day because I got into the '95 after driving the SS for a week. I started to pull away from my parking space and started thinking that something was SERIOUSLY wrong because it sat there for a week. I started going through my checklist - engine too cold? E-brake on? bad fuel? LOL, nope, just 1/3 the HP!

Answering the original question posted: No, this car is not hard to drive. There are just certain aspects of it that need your attention, like getting used to clutch feel, small side windows, large A and C pillars, etc. I never had a chance to test drive one, since only sold units were around. I ordered it, waived the money back offer, signed the papers and drove away.

Haha, that's true, EdRed. The other day I was driving my folk's Camry hybrid, and I started the car, my buddy looked at me and asked when we were going to get going. The concept of having to actually push the gas pedal down more then "slightly" was a foreign concept to me after only a few months of Camaro ownership.

My story mirrors Red's, on the car, but I did get to sit in one temporarily. With the exception of backing up, I find the visibility fine. Set your mirrors right, do proper shoulder checks, and you should be good to go!

This car is trickier than many to drive in the first week or two, but put some miles on it and you will be fine.

Visibility: You cant see the road right beside the car, and you cant see as high up in the air, but you can still see everything you need to. As mentioned, adjust your mirrors if you're struggling. Your mirrors should be adjusted further out than most people adjust theirs.

Clutch: If that bizzarre springy sensation at the end of the clutch travel really is bothering you, remove the spring. Look up the clutch pedal under the dash and you cant miss the spring I'm talking about.

It is not hard to drive at all. The clutch is alot softer than my 2000 Firehawk but very similiar to a 2006 Z06. The clutch will wear in and you get use to it so you will have no issues what so ever. If you are a terrible backer upper the sensors would be a good thing for you for it is a little hard to see out back. All in all though unless you are looking for a mini-fan feel this car will exceed all expectations.

Not sure about your height, but my driver seat goes up and down as well, and with the clutch problem, why didn't you buy an auto like me, you get other benes such as remote start and IF you want to sometinmes go through the gears, you can use the steering wheel mounted paddles....

The clutch is tricky and its release points frankly suck for around town driving in traffic. But when all is said and done, you get used to it, and when you are on it hard you don't even notice it.

Bottom line, if you do a lot of city driving in heavy traffic, you difinitely will get a workout and would not be as fun as an automatic. My M6 is purely for weekend pleasure, I love it, as you are really feeling as though you are "driving" the car

Not sure I agree with Cliffy... my SS is my daily driver and I drive 80% in town. I just shift 1st to 3rd or 4th (depending on speed limit) and I have no issues. Skipping a gear or two going up and down saves a lot of clutching.

For fun, I use all the gears, but only if I have room to pass people.

It was hard to get used to for about 30 seconds. Once I got on her, shifted into third and felt that low end torque I forgot all about the small rear window. Honestly, once I got the side mirrors perfect it was no problem at all...
