I'd like to go to 18's, but I just bought these wheels/tires. It's always going to be a weekend toy, so I'll have to make do.

I agree your car needs tranny tuning as well, but with your current wheel/tire setup, you'll never get the power to the ground off the line like you will with smaller wheels and DR's with more sidewall, even with the tranny shift points set right.
I see your points...this was my first run with the converter and drag radials. Onc cmy tune gets sorted out im going back and see how exactly the car reacts. Until the tune is updated im just going to put this trip to the track on the back burner and start again.

Understood.

For the time being, if you haven't already, I'd make it a priority to look into a transmission cooler. The transmission temps in our 6L80 L99's can easily get over 200*. This is ok with the stock TC, but no good at all for a stalled one.

Just cause we're all enjoying talking drag racing in this post I'll drop this here. Went out last night, laid down a 12.59@113.46mph. 1331' DA - so still not great air, but I'm pretty happy with that for an M6 on street tires. 1.9 60' time, probably about as good as that's going to get. Next up, some 18x11's ZL1 reps and drag radials.

Congrats on the good run and luck for the next one.

Thanks buddy. Here is the video. I was pretty happy with a 1.9 60' in an M6 car on street tires. I don't know that there is much left to get on the current setup. If I can get a late October miracle day of negative DA and sunshine it'll probably give up 1-2 more mph and another tenth - so I may make one more trip this season next month.

And here is one of my slips from last Saturday night....i went by myself. This was after my tune was improved. The trans hasnt been tuned because of bad weather i had the day my car was in the shop. For the guys who drag race alot and know what they are doing is my car runing better even tho my times are kind of close. It gets cold and damp at this track so times get worse as the night goes on.. my tuner said he picked up some good gains in tbe mid range...20 ft lbs if torque. I ended up with 13 rwhp improvement as well. The car seems to pull hard right to end.Just looking for observations thanks.Wondering if longtubes over my shorties my give me and extra few mph on the big end.

Ron - I'm pretty surprised at this. I checked DA at Toronto Motorsports Parkway, which was the closest I could find to St. Thomas. It showed -400' of DA for 9/30 at 8pm, which is darn good. What was the that RWHP number your tuner landed on? 110mph seems in the realm of possibility, but still low, especially with such good air. The car only picked up 22.6mph on the back half, which also seems low considering the air.

However, I think your problems are starting right from the line. The 60' is poor for a stalled auto on drag radials. I've cut a 1.98 60' on street tires with my bolt on M6, I would expect you to be cutting a 1.7 or better. Is the car spinning when it leaves, or dead hooking? Did you collect any data from the runs?

The car is not dead hooking....the right lane is the best lane of the 2......the left had me losing traction on the start ....on my 1st to second shift and 2nd to 3rd. Twice it hit the rev limitet causing it to bog. The right lane was better but not dead hooking either. The car seems to leave really hard and now after the tune seems to pull right through the run. Its never dead hooked all night but to me really felt better. Im at 375 rwhp and 392 ft lbs torque. He changed the plugs back to stock and put in a 160 thermostat. I dont know I just wondering if my shorty headers are to blame lol. Longtubes are my winter upgrade. No data logging and my trans hasnt been retuned yet. He says he needs to set the trans up. He thinks all they did was turn up the line pressure and didnt really do anything to the trans regarding a tune. I cut a 1.9 sixty on street tires as well. If the trans was never tuned for the gears and stall im wondering how far off the shift points are. I go back to his shop near the end of the month.

The sixty is dreadful. You should be in the 1.6 range. You have to be spinning bad. What was the tire pressure?. The MPH seams down also.
