What are my drag radials choices for A10 stock tune?

I have a 2021 LT1 that I plan on taking to the track. It’s got the run flat 245’s on it. I plan on getting a spare set of wheels from say an SS. However I am reading some posts from guys saying that changing tires can have some effects vs the shift points etc on an A10. My plan was to get the SS wheels to fit a 275 ET Street drag radial. I don’t plan on tuning the car any time soon. What are my options? I can’t imagine these 245’s stand a chance against hammering the gas pedal off the line no matter what the air pressure is.

Also seems to me my past GM cars would go into limp mode if you dropped the tire pressure below 25 PSI. Is this still the case?

It wont go into limp mode. I run mine on 21-22 lbs at the track. If you put a drag radial on it they need to be stock height or as close to stock height as you can.

You running your stock tires? How well do they hold up on a dropped tire pressure?

So it looks like stock tire diameter is 27.7. If I go to the SS rear on a Mickey Thompson 305 35 20 that has a diameter of 28.6. Is the one inch going to cause havoc with the stabilitrac? Also it seems that this combo should raise my shift RPM’S. I like this unless it causes me to hit fuel cut off. Anyone have some experience with this?

Actually a 275/35-20 tire will probably be a scosh shorter than your stock 245/40-20 tire is, not taller. You might have been looking at a 305/35-20 tire for that 28.6" diameter.

As far as Stabilitrack, a 28.1" rear tire (definitely taller than stock SS tire) that I used did not seem to bother Stabilitrac. However, it did screw up my auto shift points, biggest change was the 1>2 (lower rpm than with stock tires). What seems to make Stabilitrac mad is a shorter rear tire with a stock-size front.

I just discovered that Nitto makes a 275/35 AND a 275/40. The 35 looks to be same size as my stock tire. Going to try it.

You were right, that diameter I mentioned above was the 305. Anyways I got the 275 35 20’s and put them on today. I gotta say...Nitto said these tires are 27.56 vs the stock 245’s 27.77 but these Nittos look smaller for sure as you can see in the picture. GPS on my phone shows the car reading 1 mph over the GPS. I didn’t check it with the stock tires. To me the car shifts at about 6300 RPM. I didn’t check with the stock tires but since I am going to stick the stock setup back on it just to compare.

So I swapped the wheels back to stock and measured them. The Nitto 555R2 275/35/20 has a circumference of 86.875 / 3.147 that’s 27.60. The advertise 27.56 so pretty damn close! The stock run flat measured a circumference of 87.750 / 3.147 is 27.88 so pretty damn close to their specs too. Despite the optical illusion in the picture, they are in fact pretty close in size.
