1LE differences? 1SS vs 2SS

Hi guys. I'm pretty new here and looking to buy a 2016-2018 1LE SS in the near future, but I'm trying to educate myself some more first. Do I understand correctly that the 1LE can be in both 1SS and 2SS trim? If so, what are the differences between the two? Any information would be very appreciated.

Yes, the 1LE package is available with both 1SS and 2SS trim levels. Here are the main extras 2SS cars have over 1SS, assuming you go with the 1LE package (hope I didn't forget anything important):

Heated steering wheel
Heated and ventilated front seats (3 levels)
Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert
Rear parking assist
Homelink garage door opener (3 buttons)
Dual zone A/C with separate controls
Memory package for driver seat and side mirrors (2 settings auto-linked to each key fob and 1 exit setting that can be set to auto-activate)
Uplevel Bose audio
Wireless charging pad
Illuminated door sill plates
Interior spectrum lighting

Lots of threads and posts with pros and cons across the board

The SS1LE was not available until model year 2017 and only in 1SS trim. 2SS 1LE was not available until model year 2018. Buying used it will be harder to find 2SS1LE modes. The primary differences are:
Dual Zone Automatic A/C
Bose speakers
Heated/Ventilated seats
Aluminum accent door trim
Interior spectrum lighting
Memory package for driver seat and side mirrors
Auto dimming rearview mirror
Illuminated sill plates
Heated steering wheel
Universal home remote
Wireless charging
Power heated outside mirrors, drive side auto dimming
Rear park assist
Rear cross-traffic alert
Side blind zone alert

Thanks for the info guys. now I know not to bother looking for 2016s. The only features that I would consider nice to have in the 2SS would be the spectrum lighting and bose speakers. All the other options don't do much for me personally. I guess I'd prefer the 2SS but now I know that I don't have to look exclusively for it.

With the 2SS you have the option for sunroof.
and I think you can get Navigation.

I am almost positive spectrum lighting can be added to a 1SS and you can do much better than Bose speakers for a lot less money. You would save a lot of money with a 1SS. Probably $4K.

I didn't think there would be much of a difference on the used market. If there is that much of a difference, I would probably end up with a 1SS 1LE

True, but I think one of the problems in this regard with the 1SS is that there's no amp, vs the 2SS amp.

There is an "amp" but it's not in the trunk, it is behind/beside the glovebox on the front passenger side.

The stock speakers in the SS1LE are 4ohm and don't seem to be that sensitive I just dropped in higher caliber speakers in the dash and door panel (off the stock amp) and then added a shallow subwoofer (easily removable for track days) and an amp. $700 all in and night and day difference vs stock.

Down the road I would like to add DSP/amp for the speakers but need a way to defeat the amplified door chimes/warnings.

I had a 2SS (non-1LE) with all the goodies. With my current 1ss/1le, the 2ss goodie I wish I had is the memory seat function and the option to get the Nav unit.

This is for 2021 but 2017-2018 is similar with the exception of Rear Camera Mirror and the forward safety features that were introduced later.

2SS Extras:

Interior:
Dual Zone Climate Control
Heated/Ventilated Seats
Heated Steering Wheel
Rear Camera Mirror
Bose 9 Sspeaker Audio
Navigation(available)
Aluminum Accent Trim on Door Panels and Shifter Cap
Interior Spectrum Lighting
Memory Package for Driver Seat and Outside Mirrors
Illuminated Sill Plates
Wireless Charging

Exterior:
Forward Collision Alert(deleted when UQT Performance Data Recorder is ordered)
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Rear Park Assist
Outside Heated Mirrors
Driver Side Auto Dimming Mirror
