Well, THAT can't be good

For the last 20 or 30 minutes, I've been listening to a car, engine full rev, tires howling for mercy, about 3 or 4 miles away. Somebody was flogging that car something fierce. Full WOT for 5 or 6 seconds, then screeech of brakes being smeared and then sizzle and howl of burning rubber and more WOT scream, rinse, repeat, again and again without let up. Seems like somebody was playing racecar in a parking lot or something. Sounded like just one car.

Suddenly, it stopped.

Now I'm hearing Fire Engine and Ambulance sirens, about 3 or 4 miles away.

Well what are ya waiting for? Head in that direction to find out (read: be nosy) what's going on! It's the American way.

Well, two reasons I don't go looking:

One, I once say a guy on the highway that used to be a motorcycle rider. He looked like 30 feet of wet rags. Also I was first on scene at a fatal car crash another time; the first car was broadsided, removing the driver's side of the car about 12" into the cabin. The car that hit that car flew through the air, rolled end over end like in a movie, and went through a telephone pole. The driver of the smooshed car was normal on one side, swollen up on the other. I sleep badly enough as it is.

Two, I actually have walked through a crime scene. Did it by accident in San Diego. Turns out cops aren't amused by that behavior.

On second thought, you should probably avoid that... I've never seen a crash sites up close. But I've seen the people who are "lucky" enough to make it in to the ER and trauma ICU for treatment.
