Are dealers dealing yet?

Does anybody know if getting less than MSRP is back? How much should I try and get off of a $40,000 Camaro?

Maybe wait a few more months?

Dealers in Ca are asking 1-3K over MSRP for 1LE and Zl1 "if" you can find one. Production is still limited.

My bro in law bought an SS 1LE in Nov for MSRP minus any rebates he qualified for. At the time, I felt it was a killer deal. (Rapid blue a10, California so these cars are pretty rare to be sitting on lots....copper brake drama etc)

Dealer that I purchased my Camaro from is still asking $1k over on the SS MSRP. But they also let me use the supplier discount so it evened out.

The dealer where I bought my truck is still asking $10k over the ZL1 convertible. Total price was $92,000. Which is nuts.

They’re definitely starting to deal. Local Chevy dealer was advertising $9000 off new Silverados the other day. We haven’t seen those types of discounts in nearly 4 years. Local Ford dealer was bragging about how many new Explorers they had in stock now and was advertising at least $1000 off MSRP…that wasn’t happening on “bread and butter” vehicles like that over these past few years. Manufacturer supply bottlenecks have mostly cleared up…the biggest one was semiconductors and that problem is long gone. Both new and used car market is definitely softening up and the higher interest rates will continue to push the pricing down. About time!

Location and dealer dependent???
I'm looking to buy a new truck very soon. Around my area, new and used prices are still sky high and majority of dealers are moving very little if any off of new units. I've had a few people in the business tell me to wait till at least mid summer maybe even late fall before getting really serious about buying. And even then, it's a guess where the market could be with everything changing on a weekly basis. It's definitely better than what it has been but still a pretty shitty market imo.

No deals yet in SC especially on trucks. Nationally Chevy/GMC running 45-65 days supply so no pressure there yet. The “deals” that are out there are specific to the very undesirable turbo 4 cylinder versions which no one wants.

Supplier Discount

Did the dealer charge you $1k over the MSRP and then give you the supplier discount?

Here is how GM's supplier discount is calculated: Dealer Invoice Price With Applicable Options + Destination Charge + $200 Program Fee

I think a lot of people are predicting a used car price collapse later this year, but I wouldn't expect any breaks on a new higher trimmed Camaro, or any truck for that matter.

I hope so. I'm on the hook to buy another car this summer and then yet another one the following summer. For some reason my wife thinks that just because I got the last new car that means she gets the next one.

with the supply starting to out pace demand because of high interest rates, used and new car prices I think are both going to collapse in near term. Supply is finally going to catch up to what demand might have been 6-12 months ago, but now that the Fed just other day hit rates AGAIN...prices might be good at the dealer level but the interest rate is going to be very prohibitive.

Agreed. I know both GM and Ford are clearing out the backlog of vehicles sitting around waiting for chips now that the chips are more readily available.

My wife and I had a long discussion similar to this. Then we both came to the conclusion that my opinion didn't mean s#*t
