There was another session earlier where he put up more of a fight before allowing me to pass him. I think that is why he so easily gave the point-by. The track was far too washed out in that video or else I would have posted that one too!

Due to some astonishment when I posted the original video, I wanted to make the whole session avail to anyone who might like to use it as a 'reference session' in Cosworth.

Background:
I was able to secure the services of Darren Seltzer as my instructor for a Sebring day with Chin.
Darren is a automotive wunderkind of the highest order. He was my instructor WAY back when I started AutoX (Starting Line School) and I have kept in contact with him as I progressed from AutoX to HPDE.

The Car:
2017 Camaro SS 1LE - completely stock, including tires which at the time of this running already had ~25 AutoX runs and a Daytona Rolex Course weekend on them

The Track:
Sebring long course on a hot, clear (whoo!) blue sky day in Florida @ 1:03pm. Ambient ranged from 82F-93F. On this lap it was 91F.

The Result:
Darren, in his 1st ever hot lap in a 1LE, ran a 2:28.
FYI - anything below 3:00 is respectable, <2:45 is brag worthy, <2:30 is professional and requires genuflecting.

I have linked to an un-edited PDR video. Editing for content seems to strip out the embedded PDR data, so please ignore the 1st and last laps. It's the middle lap (the 3rd) that deserves attention.

Enjoy and happy tracking!

Glad to see a Sebring video!

Jim now has a 1LE too (Darren talked about him at the end of that video). Looks like Darren left time on the table too, which I get as it was a students car. Under 2:30 is moving good at Sebring. I run mid 2:30s with the Focus (stock minus pads/fluid) and upper 2:30s with my old 98 Acura Integra so I'd like to hope that I can hit at least 2:20s with a 1LE in the relatively near future

Funny, I was there that day too, I saw my POS chumpcar in the garages at the end of the video.

Good day at VIR, lots of traffic but it was fun. Didn't get any good clean laps. Heres my best lap of the day, full sessions are on my channel.

Great lap- congrats! A tad more confidence in the esses would drop some time, but well done. Can’t wait to get back there in 2 weeks!

Here's my best session of the year at Grattan. Consistently in the 1:26's, with a best of 1:26.37. Stock Goodyear Supercar3's, Moreno camber plates, and ST-43 pads.

I run a similar thread on the Focus RS forum

Hopefully I'll contribute to it in 2-3 months

Gentlemen, I'm here to tell you that Ryephile is moving the mail at that pace! I can only manage mid 1:27s at Grattan on a track prepped 675cc sportbike.

Thanks Guys! ...and nice action shot Dave.

The 1LE is so approachable and benevolent, it makes it easy to extract the maximum out of the car. I'm still chuffed with how good the car is.

noice ! Grattan looks like a fun, technical track with off camber, continuous corners. It looks and sounds like those stock tires are holding you back especially on a track like this

I wonder how much of a benefit you could see with some 305/325 NT01s,
I think it would allow you to flat out on some corner exits much sooner than the stockers

For sure it's a fun track, it's like being on a roller coaster. The slick asphalt surface emphasizes street tire squeal, according to my datalogging the surface at Grattan is about 0.1g less grippy than other track surfaces.

My plan is to try the Supercar 3R's next season. For sure the Supercar 3's are holding me back right now, I'm used to driving on Hoosiers for the past decade-ish, but with the 1LE I want to use a trackable street-tire to make the whole weekend easier, plus it keeps me from making the car too hardcore and ruining my daily commute. We'll see how long this wishful thinking lasts!

it's a wishful thinking, indeed once you see what can be done with better tire, it's so hard to go back to previous level.. I was able to fit the 19" tires/wheels into a car once and it wasn't too bad. I bet it should be much easier to do on an 18" set
