Scrublines on SC3's

I checked my scrublines on my SC3 tires after my last track day and the wear was about 1/2'' from the lines marked on the all of the tire shoulders front and back.

My tires were inflated to 27psi cold temp and I pushed the car very hard on the small, tight technical track that is very hard on tires... I never checked the hot air pressure during the track day and will next time, but in the meantime can any conclusions be drawn from this?

the little wingfoot on the edge should be your guide to corner wear for track use. I'm not sure without a pic about the half inch in which you are speaking.

I have always been told about the outer edge triangles or symbols as a guide for track wear; however, I can't find online confirmation. These symbols seem to be a decent guide for proper track wear via scrub lines on tires I use at the track.

no way are you going to get wear all the way to the ridges where the tire identification numbers are printed. I will take a pic of a new supercar 3 and a supercar 3R to show you what believe to be correct.

Ok so you are saying that based off the picture, there is no way the scrubline will get down to the ridges where the tire identification numbers are printed?

no way...unless you are under inflated...your pic above looks to be in the correct zone for typical track wear

Id say slightly over inflated when hot.
I use little GoodYear markings as a guide.
From the pic you are not completely there yet meaning you are not using as much tire as you could.
Bottom line: check the pressures when hot at bleed as required each break between sessions. If you never check hot pressures means you never bleed means eventually tire will over inflate for sure. I cant imagine not bleeding thru the day.

first is a brand new Supercar 3, second is a worn Supercar 3R. You get the idea.

I agree with TrackClub, you are probably a little overinflated hot...guessing 2-3psi.

Thanks for the feedback guys, apparently the track is very hard on tires so I guess over inflation would make sense considering the generic standard 27psi starting cold temp recommendation.

Questions for you, what does bleed mean in relation to checking hot psi?

I also agree, just a bit overinflated when hot. Not crazy, just a couple PSI. I found 38 PSI hot to be about the limit before they get greasy. OTOH, the Supercar 3R work best 1-2 PSI less than that.

Thanks for that info, I'm looking forward to seeing what my temps are at VIMSC.

Does bleeding the tires simply mean reducing air pressure?

Yes indeed. Immediately after you park after a session, check all 4 tires with a reliable gauge. I like Longacre brand. If you see any pressures above recommended max hot - bleed them to recommended hot. Repeat the procedure after each session. At the end of the day, dont forget to check cold pressure for drive home as you may be much less than recommended 32 and need to add some.

Personally i start at 28 cold so the tires dont take much to "come in" usually a lap or two max. Then i keep them at 36 hot. A bit higher is ok too and will depend on how far the scrub line extends to the outside of the shoulder. If it goes beyond the little GoodYear symbol you may have to run it a bit higher, try 1-2 psi. If the wear is short then reduce.

This may depend on a track, as well as how much you slide the car, etc. Either way i dont go much below 36 with G3s. Cheers!
