Shifter Bezel

Anyone have hints on how to remove the shifter bezel on an automatic car? I'm trying to remove it so I can replace the shifter knob for a Hurst. Instructions are not very helpful.

The current knob has deep scratches from previous owner and Hurst is the only one I've found so far.

It should pop out with a little upward pressure, either by hand or with a plastic trim removal tools. Start on the sides and then lift up from the back.

This video from Hurst is for a manual shifter install, but the bezel removal process is the same:

(start at 1:00 if the link doesn't already take you there)

Have a plastic trim tool handy. The first time you try to take it off it's pretty snug. Pull up like in the video and place the tool in there to maintain the gap. That saves your fingers and frees up your hands to lift in other area's. I've had mine off at least 10x. Also, there is a silver clip at the very end of the trim (south end) that will probably break. Don't freak out, the other larger clips are what really hold it in there.

I just removed mine on an automatic.
Pry tool down behind the parking brake switch, gently lever up till you can see the hole that the clip on the parking brake switch hooks into.
Using a small thin tool, gently push the clip toward the front of the car to release it and pull up a bit more at the same time.
Then working from either side, with a plastic trim tool, lever the trim up to release the clips.
Once they are all released, pull back on the trim to release it from the front of the centre console.
