Unhappy Black wheels paint peeling

Hi Guys,

My used certified 2016 Camaro SS2 with only 20K miles has 2 issues:
1. Rear view mirror look blurry like a very old mirror. Thankfully was replaced under warranty.
2. Front black wheels looks like paint is coming off. My car waited 2 weeks on dealership just to see if claim to GM passes, inspector assigned by GM never went to see my car, dealer took some pictures and send them to GM. After two weeks of waiting I got tired of waiting and pick up my car, still waiting for GM to proceed with the claim.
Rear wheels look OK, I think the front wheels were a bad production batch.

This is a common issue with the SS black wheels. I took mine to the dealership and explained that I DO NOT use non “gm approved” wheels cleaner. After 2 weeks of phone tag and a lot of pictures they re did all 4 of my wheels. The whole baking process and all. They don’t need your car while waiting for GM to approve that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Try a different dealer maybe. Mine were a lot less damaged than yours and the parts manager at this particular dealership had a Camaro himself. All they did was take pictures of my wheels to send to gm and within a week they got me a whole new set instead of repainting mine. Car didn’t even have to stay at the dealership at all, I just got a call the wheels where in and they changed them out the next day.

I'm curious because I have wheels on my 2018 V6RS. Hope you get an answer soon.

Guys what do you use for cleaning your black wheels that won't damage them on the long run?

I use the same soaps I use to wash the car and various wheel and lug nut brushes.
