Ditto to the above. ...and the rumor is that the Cadillac CT5V Blackwing will be taking over NASCAR duties.
Enjoy the final run of the ZL1 and what a hell of a race yesterday! |

Nope. GM may introduce a vehicular concoction they will call "Camaro" at some point, but as we know it, the Camaro is gone.

It's almost criminal the way GM has treated the Camaro the last several years. While it was genius putting the Camaro on the Alpha chassis and coming out with the ZL1, GM hasn't made any really major changes or upgrades to keep it competitive in years. Even advertising for the Camaro has been non existent.
Even in it's final form, the underpowered (by comparison) Camaro managed to keep up with, and in many cases, surpass the newer and more powerful offerings from it's competitors. Just imagine what could have been if GM had spent a little money in updating and advertising it. Now that the Camaro has been discontinued, it's especially insulting to Camaro fans because the Mustang continues, and even the gas powered muscle cars put out by Mopar are getting a reprieve in the form of a Challenger powered by versions of the Hurricane twin turbo inline 6 cylinder with power outputs of up to 550 HP, so far. So performance cars will continue for all except for GM. Sure GM has the Corvette, but that isn't within the budget of many enthusiasts and is really in a different class than the Camaro. Ironically, perhaps more than anything, that may be why the Camaro has been discontinued. It was too expensive for GM to have two competing performance cars under the same Chevrolet banner. But no matter the reason, if GM had only spent money updating the Camaro, it could have been continued for years. I just can't imagine a EV Camaro no matter how nice it may look. Discontinuing the Camaro is going to stick in the craw of many potential GM product buyers for many years. |

We all know how quickly GM moved in the 60’s to compete with Ford and MOPAR. The will and vision is not there with current management. Look at the resources poured into EV’s and the outcomes. No doubt, if some of that effort was put into the Camaro, they would sell that car. Demand for the Mustang and other coupe’s is there today. ‘Nuff said.

In college, I wanted an SS so badly. They discontinued the Camaro after the 2002 model year and I thought I'd never get to own a new one. I picked up a used 99 z28, then a c5, then eventually a brand new 2008 Corvette. But then, guess what, the Camaro was back for 2010 and we all got to enjoy them until 2024 again.
I would be shocked if the Camaro never came back in our lifetimes. The name is too iconic. I just hope they don't do like Ford and make it a totally different EV model.

While I truly believe the move to the alpha platform was a major upgrade, the lack of a functional back seat was a killer. At least the back seat in 5th gen Camaro was somewhat useable. In the 6th gen, it was strictly for insurance purposes. No one taller than 5 feet could comfortably ride back there.
Also, there wasn't a big market for a $50K plus Camaro SS. At that price point, you're starting to move into Stingray territory. To keep the cost down, the performance exhaust and mag ride shocks should have been limited to the ZL1 as they had been for the 5th gen. Too many dealers ordered fully optioned SS that jacked up the price well above what the market was prepared to pay. The LT1 model should have been available from day one. A V8 Camaro in the mid to upper $30K price range would have sold very well in my opinion. Waiting four model years after introducing the 6th gen was an act of desperation on the part of Chevy. The perception that the car was overpriced for its market segment had already occurred. Sprinkle in the issues with the 8 spd automatic and word got around that the 6th gen Camaro didn't provide a lot of bang for the buck when compared to the Mustang, Challenger, or Charger. As a result, sales took a nose dive after the initial model year and never recovered.
