I don't, you're correct, but I'd rather buy from a brand that's is "adding the correct detergents" as it's claimed.

You'd have to hook up to it, if not a dyno run, to see the difference in a DD of 87 and 93, the rest is in your head. Sorry but that's just how it is. race it in some capacity, sure go run 93 or EXX but the price difference is the only real tangible thing you'll experience in a DD between octanes.

I talked to the tank truck driver at one of the local grocery chain gas stations when I was there with some friends who were filling up. He said that all of the base gas comes out of the same tanks at the tank farm but the dispensers there put in the proper additives for whatever brand/station they are going to. He showed me a clip board that had the info for the current delivery, with only a code for the base gas. The next run was to a Shell station and had specific codes for the Shell additives. Pretty much verified what I had always heard about off brand gas. I only use the top tier brands. In fact, the Chevron across the street from that station usually matches the price or is within a penny or two. Definitely worth it.
