Race ramp wheel cribs

Anyone have any experience working under their car with the wheel cribs? I am looking at getting one set of the split 12 inch cribs. So you end up with four six inch cribs. Does anyone know if this will give me enough room to get under the car to perform dif, trans, oil, fluid change? I am not a big guy. Anything over 8-10 inches looks sketchy to lift that high with a single low profile jack. Looking for anyone’s input using this method. Also trying to do the most economical thing as they are expensive.

I use the exact set up.
then put floor jacks under the ZL1 lift pads for added safety (each side)

Awesome. That’s exactly what I planon doing. Do you feel you have plenty of room to perform those jobs with the 6”? Also, what’s the sequence of lifting the vehicle? Do you lift one entire side of the vehicle and put the cribs in? Then go to the other side?

I'm 170# with 10% bodyfat.

I fit fine underneath even with a creeper

YMMV

I lift the front first with the wife unit lifting
the other side simultaneously (2 floor jacks) and then the rear.

reverse to lower it

Yeah I’m 150lbs. So I should be fine. I only have one jack so I guess I’ll have to do side to side.

that may be sketchy

at least get another jack and go side to side in 3" increments
until both wheels clear the cribs.

I would never lift one corner that high, too much could go wrong

jack may or will slide off the Lift pads, pinch welds could get damaged.

you got to get another jack amigo

(or buy a quick jack)

Agreed. two jacks is the right way if you're trying to get all four wheels off the ground. The reason one jack is sketchy is once you get one wheel crib under the car (say a left front), only the right rear and the left front are touching solid ground. The right front and left rear are in the air and teetering back and forth. Super sketchy.

Ideally, you want to get wheel cribs under the front two wheels at the same time and then the rear two wheels (or vice versa).

Daytona jacks from Harbor Freight are fine and reasonably priced. Their low profile 3 ton jack fits under our cars well (although I do use a hockey puck to ensure clearance of the side skirts). I haven't tried the new 1.5 ton aluminum ultra low profile jack.

Yeah this is the whole reason I want to buy the cribs. I already have a low pro jack. Got the zl1 add ons lift pads. I also bought the mag pad and have hockey pucks. The cribs seem a lot safer than the jack stand on the pinch welds etc. I would really like to be able to use one jack. I was thinking I also have a set of ramps I made for my c6z because it was so low. What if I drive up on those first so the fronts in the air? That’ll put me about 5-6 inches off the ground in the entire front. Then could I jack one side of the rear up slide a crib in…move over to the other side, jack it up slide a crib in. Then if I want cribs in the front. It’ll already be up in the air on the ramps. At that point would I be able to jack from the rear a tad higher to slide the ramp out and a crib in?

Ramps are fine as long as you don't need to work on the brakes/wheels/tires. Also quite useful if you need to clock your bushings, presuming you have 4 and the car will be level.

I have jack stands. When I do brakes etc I plan on just doing one corner at a time with the a stand

Yeah your right it will make my life way easier. Were you putting your jack stands? Zl1 add ons says Do not put your stands on their jack pads. So right on the pinch welds? Don’t they get crumpled? I saw some rubber adapters for stands I may try. But even that seems sketch
