ZL1 Exhaust Opinions
Hey everyone, just took delivery of my new 6MT ZL1 1LE. I'm sure there is a bunch of threads on this topic but I'm new to this whole forum thing and couldn't seem to find much lol.
I plan to order an exhaust within the next couple days and I'm finding it really hard to choose which to get. I feel like the videos don't give an accurate representation, so I'm hoping some of you may have some in-person insight on how they sound. I've narrowed it down to these 2 cat-backs. Borla ATAK #140727 or Corsa Xtreme+ #14770 But I am also open to other options. Any info and sound clips would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!!! FYI
I will be eventually installing long-tube headers, so that's something to factor in as well. |

Lots of good choices. AWE is a great system also. Just be prepared, these cars are LOUD with aftermarket exhausts. All of them. But in a good way.

I also had it narrowed down to those two systems. I ended up choosing the Borla Atak originally due to them having active valves and having a deeper tone. I was able to hear both cars with those two systems in person at GM show in Carlisle PA. I do know that Corsa now has valves for their new system for the Camaro. Which ever one you choose you can't go wrong both systems are top notch and will come down to which sound pitch you like better.

in my opinion AWE Resonated Touring exhaust hands down sounds the best on these cars.

I would just say do your research. An I would go with a valved system since your going to add headers later. But that's how you feel about your neighborhood or where you stay or you just may want it very loud and don't care about how loud it is. But when you put the headers to it, it's going to be very loud. I went with Borla S-Type knowing I will do primary cat deletes or headers down the road.

This is what I just ordered from Wild Hammer Motorsports. Heard it in person along with another ZL1 with a Borla system on it, and AWE sounded better to me. Can't wait!

Supposedly Chevy super-tunes the Red Hot color optioned cars so they've got an edge on all of the other non Red Hot color optioned cars. This one goes to 11

Mine has Kooks LT and Hiflows and sounds great thru the stock catback. I say spend your money elsewhere.

Go ahead do yourself a favor and go for the catback Stype Borla. Nice deep refined tone IMO

Thanks everyone for the input! I ended up going with the Corsa Xtreme+ catback. I really like the exotic tone of it, and the price was very reasonable!
Now looking at ordering Kooks catless headers for when the car is broken in. Does anyone know if these will bolt up to the Corsa catback? Also if anyone has some sound clips of a similar setup, please share!!! (I know this combo will be LOUD and I am totally okay with that lol) Cheers |
