Unless there’s conflicting data after 2-20-2018, I don’t see the confusion.
And not sure how a dealership could ignore the manual that came with the car.

Because the 2018 SS Manual states 5w30 not 0w40

Your dealership should be using Dexos 2 when you get an oil change. Dexos 1 was having problems getting hot which is why they switched. i had my oil changed in November and they used Dexos 2.

Proof? Bulletin? Memo? All I hear is just hear say.



My dealers (3 local) all still use dexos 1, 5w30 as is what the manual calls for. They look at me with slanted eyeballs as if Im the crazy one for even asking about using the dexos 2 0w40 esp. I have googled and searched the corvette forums and our forums and there is ZERO internal memos, bulletins, etc stating anything other than what is written in the owners manual...

No idea why it's labeled as a ESP series. The 0w-40 has a different formula than the old ESP. it has more than EP and AP!!! It must be to offset the low SAP content of the ESP line.

I believe the 0w-40 ESP has a low NOACK, meaning less oil loss via vapor or large oil particulants in combustion. Plus the Zn and P are lower in the ESP vs other 0w-40.

Mine didn’t have those stickers. Mine came out of factory sealed 6 pack cases from GM wholesale direct.
Did you get loose quarts from a dealer?

Those are US Spec containers, 1 qt size ( others are Liter size w stickers).
