PDR on dash?

In one of the pictures that chevy released the PDR camera looks like it is on the dash or in the mirror. Thoughts? If so this may be easy to install on any camaro.

It will probably be similar to the C7s and it'll be a front camera in the rear-view, picking up sound from the cabin and tied in to other bits to provide all the vehicle telemetry and overlay.

I don't know offhand how it easy it would be to add after the car is built. You might want to check over on CorvetteForum and see as I believe there's already been discussion on that.

Is there a dashcam mode for the PDR camera? Not sure if it would be needed if you can just activate the PDR and say, drive to work instead of being on a track without it freaking out.

You can turn it on no matter where you're at. I imagine, together with the Cosworth toolbox, it makes for a wonderful diagnostic tool in some cases.

In order to get lap times, the system sets a Start/Finish line, and uses GPS to track your first lap, essentially "creating" the track each time you use the system. There's a YouTube video out there of a guy driving a Stingray around a bank of parking spaces. The PDR system overlaid an oval-shaped track onto the display after his first "lap".

So I imagine if there's no "lap", it'll just record data for an endless first lap.

Like the Vette and Caddy, only available with NAV and yes its part of the rearview mirror hardware. Not an easy retrofit.

that screen shot is the PDR in Track mode, the green bars are throttle position, red brakes, etc.
