My Camaro is finally up and running on the street tune

Well its been a bad 6 months or so and finally got my new Lt4 motor lined out. I've had multiple issues although nothing serious but I did have my Lt4 HPFP fail and I think it actually happened last fall but didn't catch it till I got everything up and running a week or so ago. I ordered a new pump from Summit Tuesday and finally got some logging done today. I'm currently on 93 octane with some Meth/water combo. Running 17 degrees of timing and 90mm pulley and making 11-12 psi of boost which is very safe. On my logs today and even at the low boost its scary as hell on street tires. I'm just guessing but I'd say its making 780 rwhp but won't know till we get it on the dyno. Its pretty rich at 11.25 to 11.50, I will probably turn my Meth injection down to see if that leans it out a little, its just a little cool today so probably don't need as much as I'm spraying. I think the Btr cam is just about as stout as my old Livernois cam but idles better. Dam its been a long winter and now we are locked down in Missouri so not much will happen for a while. Glad its finally rolling again.

Good to hear! It’s been quite a bit of work for you to get rolling again. Hopefully smoother sailing going forward.

Street tires and cooler weather probably aren’t best recipe for traction at this level.

Josh that's no shit for sure. It really needs a 20" drag radial just to be safe. I don't know of any street tire that can handle a good amount of power.

Yeah, tire technology will probably never reach the point where a pair of street tires that also have to stick to the blacktop through puddles and 35 degree weather would be able to hold 8-900 lb-ft of torque.

I often find myself thinking on-demand all wheel drive with strong RWD bias would be very nice. What I mean is 0-100% as long as there is traction, and dynamically redirecting the minimum required torque to either or both front wheels when needed, but only for the shortest possible time. Damned be the extra weight, just add moar powa' baby.

This is great news! I know you like the strip, but having a street car isn’t a bad option. Keep up the good work sir.

A few of us on this board are running the Nitto NT555R 305/35/20 drag radials with PD blowers on the street. At 28-30 pounds air pressure and a reasonably warm day, it’s probably as good as it gets on the street with 20” wheels & tires?

Thx Josh, I'll take a look at those. Don't want to run my drag pack on the street. If I race this year I'm going to run it on this setup with the drag pack. I think it will still go 9.70 on 93 octane tune. I can always throw a couple more degrees of timing in and an 80mm pulley plus straight Meth to make a little more power. The race fuel just allows so much more timing and boost like I had last year but just not going to run that again. I spent over 1000 bucks last year just on race fuel at 14 bucks a gallon. Every time I picked up four 5 gallon cans of Vp MS 109 it was 300 bucks so it doesn't take long to get to a grand when you race as much as I do. Plus I turned in 5600.00 to Magnuson for travel to about 8 races and I raced a few other times on my own that they didn't pay for.

Do you run E at all? So much cheaper than race gas...after you spend thousands to build a fuel system...

I'm thinking I might do the dsx low side and then I think I could.

My lowside is good to around E60 but not a bit more and I'm not making as much power as you are. Every car is different, but, if I remember correctly, you are running an LT4 lowside pump with a JMS booster, same as me. You may as well try a little e and see how it holds up, but I doubt you can do much more than e30 - e40. It will be interesting to see what you can do with the DSX setup.

I'm running 305 Goodyear Supercar3's on the street. They hook better than you would think, light years ahead of the original runflats, plus they're cheap. I'd think they should work at least as well on your 780 whp A8 as they do on 720 whp M6.

Check out the new Nitto 555r II drag radial. Supposedly will hook even better then the original and provide better wet traction and handling.

Thx, I look into those. Kind of nice to just drive it instead of on the trailer, hit the track and back on the trailer and on the lift. Start it head out the long drive way and turn left just cruise. Its crazy but that's what these cars are made for and I'm enjoying it.

Yep which is why I refuse to take mine too far. These cars are too nice for drag strip duty only. They are a drivers car and meant to be on the road.
