Would the Supra being a M/T made the decision a bit harder going back to a Camaro?

Been toying with the idea on checking the Supra.

I was cross shopping the two, I am a manual guy but the Supra manual comes out to 60k. That is way too close to zl1 pricing imo so I eliminated the manual and cross shopped the zf8 speed against my manual 2ss 1le. In the end, I choose the camaro for the simple facts that manual rwd v8 coupes are all but extinct after 2024 with the exception of the mustang. If this weren’t the case I would have 100% choose the Supra because I wanted to try something different.

I sampled a new Supra, cool car but that roofline will bust yer' head open

during ingress/ egress

visibility is better in the Gen 6

Supra desperately needs the 1LE brakes also

I ran a new supra the other day, I thought it would be quicker. They apparently really wake up with a DP and E85 tune but I can't get past it being a glorified BMW.

Nice upgrade 👍

Have several track friends that have went from a ZLE or a SS 1LE to the Supra. I know with the rights mods they can be a fast track car.

Subjective, but exhaust note makes it a no brainer for the pushrod v8.

I came out of a prior-gen BMW Z4. While the new Z4 performs like the Supra, I did drive it and they are really different machines. The Z4/Supra is a smaller platform and is great for a touring vehicle. The 1LE has track ability and feels it, even in sport mode. The Z4 is coming out with a 6 speed in March 2024, but for almost 80k, it's in ZL1 territory and maybe not worth the coin!

So I am curious what your impressions are, OP. I bought a LE Supra when they came out in 2019 and had it for 3 years. I really liked the car overall besides the auto which really spoiled the driving experience for me.

I’ve been looking at picking up a manual SS 1LE and was curious how you thought the visibility compared between the two?

You adapt to the visibility in the Camaro. Yes, it is a thing, you have to change your ways, not cut corners in parking lots with islands, not haphazardly change 3 lanes at once, etc., but you adapt and everything is fine then. If you want to make it feel more airy and aren't over 6'2" or so, get the sunroof (2SS). By all measures, I should be hitting every cone on a course, but it's just the opposite, I don't hit cones. You adapt and get to know the size of the car over a short period and as long as you are going where intended, you don't hit cones (autoX). The chassis is excellent, which is why we deal with the visibility issue.

Thanks. I did drive a 6th gen a few months back so I know what to expect but I was curious how it was day-to-day compared to the Supra since it’s been a while since I owned mine.

Welcome back, you made the right choice lol

I sold my 5th Gen SS a little over a year ago and when they announced the axing of the Camaro I put my feelers back out and ended up with a 2SS 1LE

BMW's alone are already over glorified, though.

I definitely envy the Supra's lighter weight but otherwise I'm very happy with my SLE and plan on keeping it long term.
