2016 SS USB ports dead. How to remove block

I've scoured the net and haven't seen how the USB port is removed? I'm guessing just pry it out with an interior tool but wanted to ask before I start breaking the console.

Yes, you just need to pry it out. Be careful, don't yank it lest you tear up the wiring harness, there isn't too much excess wire behind the receptacle.

BTW you might as well make a lemonade out of the situation and replace it with a better part that has an SD card reader. GM part #22990883 worked like a charm for me, the infotainment even displays the correct SD icon when playing media from the card.

Dang, I should've gone with that part number when I changed out mine. I was in a similar position as OP where my USB ports worked but CarPlay / Android Auto didn't, ended up replacing it with the exact same part number.

I unscrewed the entire center console and lifted it up slightly to reach in and unclip, you should be able to do it with the prying but be careful as arpad said to not tear wires and not scuff it too bad

Just tried this, with this same part number but doesn’t seem to work for me.

I'm sorry to hear it, might be a 2018 vs 2017 thing then. Again, it works in my car and I didn't have to do anything special, just plugged it in.

Try leaving it plugged in overnight, when I replaced mine it didn’t work and I left it overnight. In the morning it was working

I got a iPod signal but no CarPlay signal. When I tap the tv icon I get a notification that says activate but it doesn’t do anything.

I did that but now the RCA jack doesn't work. Both USB ports work as well as the SD Card slot.

Does anybody know why my RCA jack stooped working? Everything is plugged in, I pulled the radio fuse over night, but still not working. It doesn't show up in the media menu either.
