Yep I'd much rather hand myself a beer from the 12pk I just gave my obsessive friend and then enjoy the drink while I watch him detail his car for the next hour.

Yep. I used to sneer at the show car crowd and while I don't do it myself, if that makes you happy, do it.

Now obviously if you know the friend is going through something and the detailing is their way to cope, then yes a therapist might be helpful, but if that doesn't seem to negatively impact their life, whatever. Maybe OP's friend runs a detailer for a living so it's good for them keep on top of things.

Also, OP never specified 12~18 hours over what time period. Every week? Month?

I have used their vent cleaner and essential oil scents. They work alright. I mostly stick with Meguiar's for a lot of cleaners and conditioners, but I am not a detailing person.

He's a CNC Programmer

12-18 hours over 2 days and right before a car show.

I mean to each their own, just find it a bit excessive if not bordering on obsessive. While those of us would blow $2000 on mechanical/performance upgrades, He spent that on cosmetics for the interior. He and I are pretty opposite in that regard. While I wouldn't mind doing some cosmetic upgrades, I'm of the performance first mindset.
