As the 2018 model year ends, how's the A8 issue?

Is the shudder gone now?

I'm thinking about ordering a 2019 V6 with A8, and hoping the issue is now behind us.

The 10 speed in the SS is worth the ugly nose!

I have no reason to believe that the torque converter would be any different on the A10.

The TC is larger on the A10.

Here's the thing - I have recently realized that the A10 in the ZL1 is fine because it does not use AFM slip tables to make the TC slip.

When they add all that AFM related TC slipping to the SS A10, well you guessed it.

Could just be another Shudder Matic pos.

Interesting insight.

I have a Gen5 with A6 and AFM. The 4 to 8 switching doesn't cause a TC shudder, but it does feel abrupt. I wonder if the slipping has been added to the A8 to mask the switching, resulting in unintended consequences.

That's interesting. 5th gen had no such issues w/ afm.

Must be they added the slip to smooth out 4 cyl pulses for the 6th gen.

Worst part is GM has the solution:

Delphi's Dynamic Skip Fire (DSF) technology is making its debut in some V-8 engines, in which it will be called Dynamic Fuel Management.

It lessenss the pulses and the bad sounds afm creates.

As well as a new centrifugal pendulum absorber torque converter that reduces vibrations to improve smoothness, particularly during cylinder deactivation events.

GM put it in the 2019 Silverado, but no Camaro application.

Dynamic Skip Fire:https://www.delphi.com/dynamic-skip-fire-1

It can reduce your V8 to one cylinder!

I have 2017 2SS A8. Got the "Shudder" at about 10,000 miles. Got the tranny flush done at the dealership. Now approaching 30,000 and have had ZERO problems since. Sometimes I still can't believe how good this car is to drive!

Amazing beast!

Nah, that ugly nose still triumphs the 10 speed auto. You can get a better looking car that has that same 10 speed, it's called the Mustang. lol!

And, you get to have the "460 hp" bragging rights over just "455 hp" on the uglified Camaro. GM made the Camaro SS too ugly for '19.

Most of the shudder issues seem to occur in V8/A8 models. Chances are the V6 will not have any issues. My car has been flawless with absolutely no sign of shudder in nearly 10 K of highly enjoyable miles. All while returning an average of just over 31 mpg and 33 mpg all highway on 87 octane fuel when you pay attention to keep a light foot on the accelerator to keep the smooth V6 in V4 mode as much as possible. I would say definitely go for it and enjoy the refresh! It's the best performance for the mpg's on regular fuel you can get from any manufacturer... period.

Yep. 2018 A8 about 4K miles and all good. I haven't seen a verified complaint on a 2018 yet, unless I missed it.
