1LE Front Grill Question

First post!

I read on Wildhammer that in order to use the 1LE splitter, the 1LE lower grill is required. Does anyone know if the 1LE splitter is required to use the 1LE lower grill, meaning can I just use the stock splitter with the 1LE lower grill?

Thanks in advance. My 2021 ZL1 arrives in 2-3 days. I got big plans for it.

Yes. You can run the 1LE upper and / or lower grille(s) with the ZL1 (non-1LE) splitter. There will be a very small gap at the grille and splitter interface. Sort of hard to explain, but it's not overly noticeable. I personally don't run this setup, but have seen a few others who do.

Thanks for the answer, I've actually ordered all three pieces, I was just curious IF I wanted to leave the stock splitter, would it be possible. I'm likely going to use the 1LE splitter anyway.

So I made the attempt to swap these pieces myself a few days ago and gave up. If anyone has tried this and been successful, I would like to hear from you. I pulled the front fascia off, and for the life of me I could NOT get the clips to release the upper grill. The lower grill looks like I'll have to break the bumper cover rivets just to pull the grill off and even then, I couldn't get those clips to budge either. I didn't want to damage the fascia I put it all back together. That was a waste of 3 hours.

The upper grill is a big PITA, but the lower grill is fairly straight forward. It is much easier with two pair of hands and/or interior trim tools.

You need the 1LE Grill to use the splitter.

Anderson Composites Makes Both for that car and the quality of the carbon is insane.

I pick up my 21 on Tuesday! It's already at the dealer. I am having them do the track alignment on it before I pick it up. (It's a 1LE)

I did the conversion, and yes, you need it. The bic below shows how the stock ZL1 grill doesn't clear all the 1L1 tabs and will not lock in properly. You would have extensive cutting and fitting, and the center of the splitter would have nothing securing it.
Also the grilles and bezels are a PITA to remove. I went tobthe auto store and bought a stack of feeler gauges. I slid the feelers between the tabs as I worked my way around the bumper. It's the only way to keep the tabs you released from snapping back when you go onto the next one.

I've got a local body shop going to do the conversion for me in a few days. I'm going to paint the 1LE splitter mosaic black like the stock one. Leaving the grills unpainted.
