Issues programming homelink
I’ve followed all of the directions in the book, watched videos online, and pretty much tried anything to try to program my garage door opener. It still hasn’t worked. Anyone else having this problem or know something I don’t? Thanks

1st you need to sync up the handheld opener to the vehicle. Steps 1 and 2 in the manual.
might as well skip step 3, its never worked for me. go to step 4/5...push the learn button on the actual garage door opener (this is the big device that actually move the door). hurry, you have 30 secs to do Step 6....I had to push mine 3 times. I have 2 garage doors...had to program the camaro and the new buick...same setup.

We have a two car garage, and the door openers are different. The older one works as grampa_ss described, the newer one doesn't even require the learn button, I can simply sit in the car and redo steps 1-3 at any point.
Make sure you hold the door opener remote very close, within a few inches to the homelink buttons in the car, or the receiver in the overhead console will not be willing to pick up the signal from your remote.

Is this a pre-owned 2016 2SS ? If so it could be that you need to do the procedure to delete previously saved settings.

I’ve followed the steps in the book, and the light will actually got solid indicating that it’s learned the signal. I tried erasing the codes and starting over after a while, but it still doesn’t work. I’ve gotten it to work with pretty much every other car we have, and I’ve had to press the program key on the opener itself for them. Mine just won’t work.

Have you tried all the buttons? I recently bought a used Toyota with factory homelink and nothing I did would program or erase the first or second button, but had success with # 3 button.

Programming a button should overwrite previous programming. Deleting is useful when you sell the car so that it no longer is connected to your opener.
