FI and CA smog tests.

I think next year is a smog year for me. I have a 2300 with Jannetty tune, smaller pullet and the hybrid LT4 fuel system, guessing I have to revert back to the canned setup to pass smog, since I don't know anyone. Is that the normal route, return to smog legal for the testing?

Just take it to a small shop run by an Asian fellow who can barely speak English., Preferably one who normally only smogs toyotas and hondas. If it's not throwing codes it will likely pass. My son's G8 is cammed and tuned with CARB approved shorty headers, and passes every time this way. He does have to install the stock airbox, as his OTR setup isn't CARB legal.

The maggie is CA legal. As long as you don't have any non CARB approved bolt ons that the tech can easily see, like headers or no cats, then you'll be fine. They aren't going to know your pulley is smaller and they won't know about your injectors either.

They'll plug it in, and if all of your monitors are ready then you'll be fine. In fact, I think you can get away with one or two of them not being ready, but it's been awhile since I've had to smog a car. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable can delve in to that.

Its only legal with Magnuson tune. It has a Jannetty tune and they'll be able to detect that I believe. Don't you still have your Magnuson Tune? Change the pulley and load it. That might work.

With my H/C/I Gen2 LT1(OBD1), the tech left the sniffer on the ground by the exhaust tip.

$100 and the car passed. Every time.

I wouldn't think even need to change the pulley long as you don't go WOT. Tuning for a pulley swap is all PE stuff. Just load the canned tune, go get the testing done, then flash back to the Jennetty tune.

They can not see who's tune is in the ECM, there is absolutely no way to see that info short of pulling the tune and using HP Tuners to compare it to the file Magnuson sends.

You're good for a few more years, they are doing 2012's this year. Just had to do the first one for my daughter's Cruse, they said it's at 2 more years till my 2015 needs it.

None of that matters if you're pulled over and told to pop the hood...

I have no codes, just the Maggie 2300, LT4 fuel upgrades, 90mm pulley and Ted's tune.
