Hmmmmm, I should know this, because I just had it out last night downloading videos. Will pull it out and let you know.

My apology. It is a 128GB SanDisk SD card. It gives me like 3300 minutes of video time on the PDR. Which is crazy, because I would never fill it!

LOL. That's what I was looking forward to. I was waiting on USPS like a way too old kid waiting on Santa at Christmas to get my SD card and adapter....

I've had the same black screen issue but I'm able to get it going by just resetting stuff like re-starting the car... opening and closing the door etc.
Seems to happen at the worst time for me like right before a track session while setting up PTM modes and all. End up stopping to get the PDR going and then re-set traction and PTM again. It doesn't happen too often but it seems like it's stuck on the black screen that has the acknowledge button. Except the button isn't there just a black screen. Once it re-sets that message always seems to pop up which tells me all good again. It always re-sets for me but sometimes it takes a few minutes to get going. The good news for you is it does it all the time and a dealer can replicate the issue. If I took mine in, it would work perfectly. So yes, please take it in and then come back and tell us what we need to do. I'm also using a 128 gig stick which is complete overkill. |

My car only has 550 miles on it so it has never worked. I didn't try it till I got the SD card just recently.

I know of a ZL1 that the PDR was mistakenly never plugged in from the factory. If the SD cards don't work, have your dealer take a look.

Hmmmmm. Up by the mirror? I never let the dealer prep it for obvious reasons. I'm assuming its an update or something simple like that.

I recall his issue was behind the head unit...

Can't speak for the PDR but I would check the transfer rate of the SD card as you pointed out earlier. My blackvue dashcam had the same issue where I got a higher transfer rate but wouldn't work unless I use the specified class rating.

I might toss in a standard issue card just for track days when I really need it to perform and don't need all the extra space. |

Before that I tried a spare 64GB card. When I went to format the card, the only thing on the drop down was "(exFAT) default" I got the black screen in the car. |

PDR not working - just getting black screen
Quote:
1) It's my understanding that the PDR WILL turn on WITHOUT a card installed. Therefore, the "BLACK SCREEN" is pointing to some other issue because my screen is black with or without a card installed. 2) Its my understanding that if you have a bad or improperly formatted card you will get some type of error screen, as opposed to a "black screen". 3) Therefore if (1) is true, the "black screen" has nothing to do with the installed card. The issue could be wiring, hardware or most likely a necessary update. Is this accurate????????

That said, we already know the card will ONLY operate on FAT32 formatting so obviously it does NOT recognize exFAT. For the record, I've tried both ways. I get a black screen with or without any card.

Black screen is what I get on mine but it's so infrequent. Maybe it just glitches every now and then with the large size cards. I think I'm going to stick a 32 in mine and see if it ever happens again. It may not be this but anything over 32 is overkill anyway unless you're storing some of your better track videos on it too.
