Sealed edges of hood vents on SS

Has anyone sealed the edges of their hood vents on the inside? The reason I am asking, is that i bought my SS used and the hood liner is stained something terrible with soap and and water stains. Ive seen some members take theirs off and clean them, but I think mine maybe too fragile and once removed may lose its integrity. I have purchased a replacement, but was wondering if anyone had put any type of seal around the edges of the hood vent to prevent water and soap from staining.

Clear (or black) GE silicone II.....Find somebody with experience who knows how to lay down a bead, you can overdo this and it will become messy, but done right with a thin bead and you’ll be good to go.
