I'm surprised GM didn't do a revision page for the 17 and 18's.

BELOW is from the 2018 high performance owners manual supplement.
That's all I got, LOL
Can you say, hey I'm on the way to the track? LOL

LS/LT 1LE, SS 1LE, and ZL1
Change the engine oil to 0W-40 or
5W-40 that meets the dexos2
specification. If this oil is not
available, the following oils can be
used as an alternative: Valvoline
SYNPOWER MST 5W-40 or Mobil
1 15W-50. If 15W-50 is used, the
engine oil must be changed after
the track event.
For LS/LT 1LE, add 0.9 L (1.0 qt) of
oil over the nominal fill level for a
track event. After the competitive
driving, remove the excess oil so
that the level on the dipstick is not
above the upper mark that shows
the proper operating range.

This many have been answered already, maybe not. But:

Can someone please explain to me how GM or a dealership would be able to prove you are using 0w-40 instead of 5w-40? Other than if you showed them a receipt for the oil you purchased or an invoice for an oil change done with 0w-40 at an independent shop. Not sure why you'd do that, but...

Corporate chevy finally called me back after being escalated to 2 more departments and waiting a week for a response. I was told the 0w-40 esp oil is only for 2019's and warranty would be denied for any engine failures related to oil if i use it in my 2018. So use at your own risk...

Isn't it listed as an approved oil in the 2018 manual?

That person doesn't know what they are talking about. Any oil that is Dexos2 and 0W-40 or 5W-40 is approved for track use and meets warranty requirements for 2017-2018 Camaro SS 1LEs per page 4 of the high performance supplement.
